Great, the best outcome really!

Yes PE got paid £40 but that barely covered their already-expended court fee, let alone other costs. They've made a loss here, and...

Each and every one of these complaints WILL be remembered by those Managers, so the damage this sort of complaint does is priceless.

:)
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

• Definitely the best outcome would be that PE got nada, but I think the damage done with a manager having to pay this off won't sit well and chips away.

I'll have a look at the petition and also try and come back to help from time to time. Ironically, another parking firm, who do Lidl's car parking, billed us after my wife overstayed by 10 mins when doing last minute Christmas shopping last month. Instaead of ignoring I went straight to the store manager and had it cancelled without a breath of a challenge! Wouldn't have done that in the past that's for sure, I'd've still believed ignoring was the best policy.

I've sent the following to the head honchos at Marriott. Apparently the CEO of the UK & Europe personally intervened (I was phoned within 40 minutes of the email) so it pays to go to the very top:

Dear Ms McPherson,

In respect of the email I sent earlier today I’m pleased to report that I’ve since been contacted by the General Manager of hotel. He was able to resolve the matter in its entirety and I understand spoke with ParkingEye – I’m not sure what he said but the good news is that the fine has been cancelled and there’ll also be no court procedure.

Furthermore he asked that my family contact him should they stay again which was very kind, and I’m very appreciative of his ability to resolve the issue swiftly with minimum fuss.

As a final note on the matter, I would politely suggest that Marriott seriously consider their relationship with ParkingEye, a morally bankrupt company whose credentials and behaviour towards customers are not aligned with the good name of the Marriott Hotel group.

Thanks once again and hope you have a great weekend,

...another nail in their coffin with any luck

We all admire you in your handling of this.

As you took this to the very top, it no doubt sent
shudders down the chain of management

Marriott hotels in the UK have many sites where the
parking is free, no catches.

My local one has a barrier. To lift the barrier on exit
you need a token from reception.

After this, I doubt that Marriott will rush to sign
any more contracts with Parking Eye again.

Some of the big supermarkets must deeply regret
taking on Parking Eye. My local Morrisons installed
them and now, the car park is always half empty
and the staff blame it on the car park operator.

Marriotts have behaved in a professional manner for
you but what they need to do is train up their front
desk and managers before it gets out of hand again
with the wrath of another customer

CUSTOMERS MUST NEVER BE SCAMMED

This story of course is searchable on Google.
Good for the hotel ...... bad for Parking Eye
