hi don't know if anybody can help,
i bought a sofa from a company closing down sale and i have paid in full on my credit card. it was due to be delivered this friday however i have just been informed by a friend who works for them that the company has made all staff redundant and has gone into liquidation. if i am now the owner of the sofa because i have fully paid for it will i still be able to get it even if the company has gone bust.
im not wanting my money back as i have paid a lot of money to redecorate in advance for the sofa and have paid for the whole room to be repainted and i have got rid of other furniture and had new carpet put down therefore my money back would not cover all expenses.
please reply if you have any ideas as I'm desperate right now.
thanks.

The answer to your question is only the company or its liquidators know the answer. If no sofa is forthcoming you do a Section 75 claim with your credit card company. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Why can't you just get a refund and buy a new sofa?
Or are you saying you have decorated the entire room to match a sofa???
I am somewhat confused, as most people would be delighted to get a full refund. Why would your refund not cover expenses?
Please enlighten me... (as I am sitting on my red leather rather hideous second hand sofa that clashes with the inherited textured wallpaper in this room!)Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
If there is a sofa somewhere with your name on it, you need to contact the liquidators ASAP and instruct them to put your sofa to one side, so you can collect it.
If you merely ordered a sofa, then you may or may not get one. If you don't, claim the money from the credit card company. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
only reason i wasn't wanting a refunds because it was in a closing down sale therefor the price wouldn't cover the cost of a new one as i paid £1500 for it and it was a 4 seater + 3 seater + single tall back chair + pouffe ,so what i paid was very cheap for it
sorry if this doesn't make sense I'm stressing out so I'm a bit muddled up right now0 -
so do i not have any rights to collecting the sofa from them if i paid in full and it was all ready to be delivered and its now in my name0

You could try phoning them and offering to collect it yourself??
I would imagine this has now been seized as an asset.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

my problem is that i have tried ringing but the phones are turned off I'm presuming this is coz all the staff had to leave the building so there is no one to answer the phones0

There is a reason you got a bargain.0

I think it is unlikely that the liquidators let you have the sofa. Unless you had something custom made it is unlikely that you'd be able to point to a particular sofa in the warehouse as 'yours'.
Worth a go, but don't get your hopes up.
You should be able to get a refund from your credit card company. I don't understand why this would not be adequate? Can't you just buy a different sofa so that your new painting and carpet don't go to waste?0 -
You need to find out who are the liquidators and put in a claim to them for the furniture. They are the only people who know whether it is available or not and whether you are entitled to it.
However, if the company did not have the money to pay the supplier of the furniture they my not have received it so none to pass on to you.
If so, then you are a creditor of the company who will be lucky to get any payout so should forward details of the liquidation to your credit card company to get a refund of your money.0
