Heeeelp! I have recently moved and had to cancel by BT contract last month, I'm sure I was told then that there would be no fee. However, I've just checked my bank and they have taken £300 out of my account and they say its because I was in a contract and moved out 11 months before the end of the term. I am about to move into the new house this week and 8 months pregnant and this is so so much money for me. Is there any way of getting out of this?? I definitely wont be signing up with them in the new house! Thanks for any help! x

If you are breaking the contract within the minimum term then it is correct.

    Are you sure?

So you are breaking the contract.

If you had informed them of a house move they would have probably transferred your account and started a new minimum term without any penalty.

As above CANCEL = break contract owe balance of contract .

MOVE and transfer BT contract start new contract and no what you call penalty .

It's very unlikely that they would have told you no charges would be applied , especially if you had that many months left of the minimum term.....you could have avoided the charges by using BT at your new address, or if it fell on a suitable date, used the price rise notification to leave penalty free, but dealing with the situation as it is rather than how it could have been, means that you have to pay the Early Termination Charge, or don't and have your credit file trashed and the debt possibly sold on to a debt recover firm

I would beg them, and get your old contract back up and running, they might, you never know, try it.
