Hmm, they are up against a 6 foot fence and that comes about a third of the way up their full height. The last few feet are straggly though, the bulk is lower.
Tops level or lower than the gutter of your house helps with guestimating.Numerus non sum0 -

Self-seeded hollies are good in the right place. We have some in our roadside hedges, which are pretty dry, hostile environments for most plants in summer. There's also a few in dark, dank places near a stream, where not much will grow due to the lack of light.
In the garden, it's named varieties only though. (and her outdoors gets the job of pruning them!

18-20ft trees with 5-6" trunks do not fall into the realm of tree surgeons if you want them to be removed! Do it yourself. They are small, light and easy to deal with. Just get a pruning saw and loppers and you'll get them cut down and cut to bits in a day. Get a ladder and go up and cut off all the branches, then back down the ladder and cut the base of the trunk, assuming there's space for it to fall. If not, then back up the ladder and cut half the trunk off before doing the lower half. I assume the trunk is only going to be 3m high or so at the most.
To get a trunk to fall the way you want it to, cut a 30degree wedge on the side you want it to fall towards, going only 1/4 the way into the trunk. Then on the back side, cut a straight cut toward the wedge but about 1inch higher than the thin end of the wedge. When the straight cut almost meets the line above the wedge, pull the top of the trunk over with the rope you secured to it earlier
It'll go the right way and is very unlikely to do anything else unless it's leaning, weighted the wrong way with loads of branches, or gets caught by a strong gust. 0 -
Sorry I mustn’t have been clear, I don’t want the rowans gone I like them, I just think they need some tidying/pruning and I can’t reach! They are at the back of a section of garden that’s an uphill slope, and on the other side is a busy A road.
I’m hav8ng a great time hacking the imposter holly trees to bits though! I filled my garden waste bin yesterday, it got collected this morning and i’ve filled it again today, with loads left over in a pile! The tips for the trunks will be handy for these, one is about 7 foot tall with a 6 inch or so trunk.
The cheap hand sized secateurs I got from Wilko have died already, so I will have to spend a bit more on decent ones. I need one of those mattocks now and a spade to dig the roots out, there’s my next shopping trip!0 -
