Bet you said the same about the mobile phone.....I guess some people just get left behind....;)

Been using mobile phones since 1998 which was still along time before it was a given that everyone has a mobile phone.
    Still watching Betamax........:rotfl:

Been using and experimenting with tech a lot longer than the current social media "cloud" generation. Oh your Alexa can turn your lights on and off wow! I've been able to do that for 10 years with LightwaveRF.

Not given up. I prefer to get my hands dirty rather than use a plug and play device. ;);)

Can't fault you for that....You are still mistaken in thinking AI is a fad, but each to their own.:)

TBH OP, there are plenty of info out there if you google "google home vs amazon echo" detailing the differences and what might suit you better. It really all comes down to what you want to use it for. At the moment Google Home looks better for search activities and anything that uses it's maps facility but if you currently use the Amazon architecture more then the Echo is probably a better bet.

Personally, I'd simply prefer to say "Alexa, do this" rather than "OK Google, etc".

Having a better contextual conversation with Google far outweighs that...:D
I love the competition between the two. It's really driving AI forward.
