There's another instance of a fee being charged for an alleged 'off eBay' sale now being discussed on the community boards. This appears to be the latest eBay strategy to get at sellers even more !I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. £170 selling fees on something that they didn't sell.
I like the way that ebay has brainwashed the clowns on the boards to think that ebay rules over-ride UK law, and that ebay has baliffs.
This is clearly simply theft on ebay's part, it's about time their senior management were imprisoned."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

I got a warning for trying to sell outside e bay recently
I had an item up for sale very large and heavy and postage was not an option due to excessive cost, a buyer showed interest and asked if they could view the item before commuting to buy, i sent them my address clearly stating in the message that it was to arrange a viewing prior to purchase through E Bay but i still got a warning for trying to sell outside e bay
I was lucky that i only got a warning and no account restrictions so be very careful0 -

I don't know why some of us get warnings and some restrictions, I only got a warning as well when they decided I was trying to sell off ebay (I wasn't). Others, including one of the regulars above went straight to a short restriction.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. A bit off topic, but I got a warning today for listing in the wrong category. It was for an item that I have sold lots of recently, but eBay decided this one was wrong
If I continue to list in the wrong category I may be restricted. I recently saw on the eBay discussion boards that someone had received a 7 day restriction for this heinous crime
eBay need to concentrate on getting the site working properly instead of putting resources into this nonsense. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

It is worth remembering as well that ebay changed a lot of the categories so that they make no sense now. Looking at discussions on other forums (and it's a shame that this forum is no longer very active) sellers have been caught out with GTC listings where ebay have changed them. So they were correctly listed originally but ebay then re allocated them to the wrong category and restricted the seller!
Probably OK for someone who doesn't use GTC or who has a handful of listings, but for anyone with a number of listings how can we possibly check regularly to make sure the categories haven't changed?
Several months ago I poste don here that the book categories were completely wrong, I listed say a book on Ancient Egyptian history using the non fiction - ancient history only to get a warning it was wrong as the ISBN meant it had to go into the Computer maintenance section. I spent hours on the phone to ebay who would not confirm I was protected against a 'wrong category' warning, and in the end decided it wasn't worth the risk and sold a few on Shpock and took the remainder of the box of books to a charity shop.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hehe, so that's what's happening, I have a customised search for computer bits 'n pieces in my local area, I wondered why it now often has cookery books and self-help books included.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
I received a warning after a buyer sent me a fabric sample request and their address. Apparently I should have control over buyers messages, even ones I have never communicated with before.
Then my last trading week before Christmas I was suspended for a week because I told a buyer where they could find my address, because I am legally obliged to do so. eBay decided I was trying to sell a £12 cushion off site and instead preferred to lose £1000's in trade during my busiest week of the year. If I didn't have three other online stores I wouldn't have been paying my bills.0 -

Just scroll down to the bottom of any search page and eBay are promoting off eBay sales for the very item you searched for with multiple "off-site" advertisements. It is obviously REALLY IMPORTANT to eBay that you buy on eBay NOT!Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise.
