That's a strange one, I agree with the posts on the boards it could be read either way. That's one of the things that worries me, I could legitimately respond to an email with no intention at all of dealing 'off ebay' yet perhaps poor use of language (a weakness of mine I fully admit) could give entirely the wrong impression and get me banned.
In that instance it suggests that seller had previous warnings, but again we have no idea how long a warning lasts for as I had one earlier this year- so does that mean my next alleged infringement could lose my account, or has that warning 'expired'? I can honestly see why some worried sellers have actually disabled the ability for buyers to ask questions.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. That example does clearly read to me like an offer to either sell for £430 on ebay or £350 outside. It MAY have just been a poor choice of words on the part of the seller but I can fully understand why ebay blocked the account.0 -

Ebay is not the only site that user was banned from it seems.
One of those people that like to ignore the rules no matter what they are.

I had something listed for collection only which ended a couple of weeks ago. Nobody bid on it but I got a message the next day from someone who said they'd meant to bid but had forgotten and was it still for sale?
I pondered hard about what to do, bearing in mind eBay's strict new rules but in the end I just thought "sod it" and sent them a message with my phone number and told them to ring me if they wanted to come for it.
The message got through, the deal went ahead and we were both happy.
I'm still wondering if I'll get some sort of punishment further down the line - not that bothered if I do to be honest, that's why I did it, but I did fully expect my message with phone number to be blocked, but it wasn't.0 -

I had a strange buyer. 500 feedback and been on for a few years. So not a new buyer. Brought something. Received it and messaged and said unhappy with it and wants to return. What is my address. Not a problem I tell them, just request a return. Then the return address will be given. Few days later again ask for return address. Explain they need to request a return. Went through the steps to do it. Anyway over course of two weeks got a message a day asking for return address. Each time said need to open a return.
This carried on for another couple of weeks and I even sent them an e-mail to their PayPal payment address but still refused to open a case (I offer 28 day returns so still possible). Just kept asking for return address through Ebay message.
The strange thing is that the return address is on the packaging and invoice. I am not sure if they really are clueless about opening a return, have opened so many returns in the past they are worried about another or trying to get my account suspended by me giving out my address through Ebay, I am not sure if it would cause problems giving out my address post sale but not taking the risk.0 -
not sure what to do here.
asked seller for more pictures and more details about item. they have replied with a phone number slightly disguised and said they tried but could not get their email address through. i thought they would just have answered the question and attached pictures to the reply.
now do i reply or not? and if so should i state to attach pictures to the reply
advice please?0 -

If there are insufficient photos for you to buy then walk away. It's almost impossible now to liaise with a seller anymore so you might be better off searching local ads or Facebook .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. i kind of wished i had not asked for any, i am more concered about the reply with a phone number eg 0/7/7/9/2/2/2/etc if ebay might think the deals been done off ebay and i get a suspension0 -
I got a 7 day 'your ebay account has been restricted' message back in early November for supplying my mobile phone number to a buyer AFTER an on-ebay sale to arrange collection last month.
All above board, collection only item, buyer asked for my details to arrange after an accepted Best Offer, and I got a 7 day restriction about 12 hours later - I know it was the mobile phone number as that was what was singled out in the restriction notice.
I have been on Ebay for probably 15+ years so I am used to its nonsense, but that one surprised even me!0
