I have known a few people in my time who were claiming Benefits that they were not entitled to.
In the first case, it was a single woman claiming JSA but also having two lodgers and not declaring their rents. I asked her why she didn't sign off and just live on the rents and left the ball in her court. Eventually she did this.
The other person was someone claiming as a single parent when she had a live-in partner. Her father told me, he thought it was all above board as she was single (i.e not married). I pointed out that it was actually Benefit fraud. Don't know what happened about that one, although she did marry the guy recently (I had the talk with her father 5 or 6 years ago).
Couldn't bring myself to report either of them.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

But do we want to live in a society where people are encouraged to snitch on each other? Reminds me a bit of the former GDR.0

Personally I think that reporting someone for stealing from the tax payer is a tad different to reporting to the state for having different political views.0 -

Ok here have a blank benefit cheque, take what you want.
Oh and here's a new tax bill please pay 50% more taxes so we can fund the benefit bill.0 -

So you would prefer the person who saw the driver who damaged your parked car to stay silent and the witness who saw you being mugged to keep shtum because it's not fair on the criminals to be snitched on?0 -
I would point everybody in the direction of the sticky

And on that basis and that alone I'm going to close this thread, if the OP wishes to continue this they can of course move over to DT for further discussion.
