Good Morning everyone,

I'm looking for help with Facebook. Like most of you I enter competitions on Facebook and part of the competition rules is to share the competition post with the public, especially the gleam competitions. Most of my friends are not into entering competitions and when I share with the public they are getting bombarded with posts from me.

I am not that savvy with Facebook use. I can see that I can customise who I share posts with. If I want to share with the public and want to exclude my friends from the post how do I do this? This comes under "Custom Privacy" Do I list my friends one at a time and save each one? Or do I list them all and then save? Do I list all one after the other or do I have to break up the friends names with comas or some other symbol?

I hope someone can help and save my friends from my intrusion!

It is against FB rules for companies to ask you to share their competition, the way most are getting around it now is by saying "We can't ask you to share, but sharing is caring"

I think in answer to your other questions it would be much easier to open a second FB account with just your comping friends names on it so when you share they won't mind

There are a lot of companies and people running competitions that are breaking Facebook rules. Only the occasional one that I come across actually states "We can't ask you to share, but sharing is caring"
or words similar to that.

Also if someone were to point out to the companies that they are breaking the rules would they then forfeit that persons chance of winning. I know it would be difficult to prove that is why you did not win or even know that was the reason you did not win. So really there is nothing to stop the companies carrying out that practice.

Yes I've just found that out. Good job I did not go ahead with creating another account.

I have now listed all the friends I don't want to share competitions with and hope that works.

Further to my above comment. I have managed to exclude friends when I share with friends(hope that makes sense) What I need to know and find out is if I exclude those friends does it work when I share with the public on Facebook.

Obviously the companies and people posting competitions want you to share with all to attract other people to enter.

Yes, that is also true, but rules are meant to be bent a tad

Pleased you got part of your problem sorted out, all you can do is try and ask one of your friends for the second part.

That's why the "Sharing is caring" quote started.

Just goes to prove we can have a serious conversation too, it is all comping related so all good :T

In our house our weekend is which ever 2 days my hubby is off work, so this week our dinner/wine/beer nights will be Weds/Thur :j
