Currently switching to People's Energy who didn't do that but have asked me to confirm meter details, so not anticipating any issues.I’m hanging on, unless I am missing something?
You need to pick the latest Zapp November tariff, but there's a lot of different ones and no way to tell which one you're on unless you have your current unit rates. Zapp September matches the rates that were on my bill two weeks ago but I think there's been another rise since then.
Plus there's a big rise coming in January. Switch now.0 -
Good news! Your energy switch is now in progress!
I went with Green Network Energy's 18 month fixed tariff so I don't have to switch in December every time0 -
I did what I would expect a lot of people did and switched to OFTM and let CEC keep track of whether it would be cheaper to switch elsewhere.
However as OFTM have been wholesale switching everyone onto new versions of their tariff rather than varying the rate of the one you were on, the CEC has been comparing against a tariff I was no longer on.
Maybe it's my own fault, but I expected CEC to do the work for me. OFTM only have a couple of tariffs, there is no reason why it couldn't be done.
I complained to the CEC and they didn't seem to care. Watch out, it seems it's not the fire and forget solution I was led to believe it was.
I think they've figured a way to game the system.
As soon as I saw the price hike I checked CEC, still cheapest. Second hike, cheapest still... completely missed I needed to change tariffs each time, there is 4 changes I had to have made.
CEC should just band them under the same group, if someone is moved without choice from A to B, they should be the same.0 -
. . . There's some kind of disconnect between MSE CEC and OFTM, the tariffs are not being updated when the prices increase. . .
Their excuse is that they have to rely on the suppliers to notify them of tariff changes.
In reality, of course, it's in CEC's interest and the suppliers' interest for prospective customers to be misled about the cheapest tariff. The supplier gets a new customer which it may not deserve and CEC gets its kick-backs from the suppliers. Everyone is happy - except the customers, of course.
BUCK UP YOUR IDEAS CHEAP ENERGY CLUB !
I would suggest using CEC only to get you started then go to the supplier's site to confirm what is really available and then sign up direct with the supplier. This makes the process somewhat longer but at least you should get a better idea of what you're actually signing-up for. This way you know who is responsible when it goes wrong at the cost of only £25 maximum cash-back.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

According to my OFTM account page I am now on the Zapp December tariff. However it's impossible for me to complete a price comparison as CEC does't have this tariff. Not that it matters as I'm off to Avro anyway.
I've just printed off all 10 bills from OFTM so I can check what I've been charged sine I've been with them and despite always sending them readings (apart from one month) they have used estimated readings for every single bill!0 -
OFTM are taking DDs from my account even though I am no longer with them. By my calculation I was over £100 in credit including energy up to the final reading. The extra £143 they have taken is outrageous. Obviously not a hope of getting through to them to sort it out. Livid.0

You need to login daily and cancel them as they set them back up, after a while it stops. The greatest prediction of your future is your daily actions.0 -
£110.99 has been taken out of my bank account by Outfox the Market today. I went with a new provider earlier this month.
Just been on webchat with an advisor. Told they do not cancel DD's until the final bill is raised. ""we don't cancel the direct debit mandate until then as we are unable to estimate what your balance will be until the final bill so to avoid going into the debt we can keep the direct debit active until the final bill generated"".
Not at all happy with this. Never had it done to me before.
Not only do they make their charges up front, they then increase DD's over the winter period and they carry on charging after the contrcat has ended until THEY decide to issue a final bill. Not on. AVOID this company.
I am putting in a complaint with Ombudsman and aksing my Building Society to refund the DD and pay me back unauthorised overdraft fees,
