I have an issue about all of this "£1 in clubcard points = £4 in deals" stuff.

I know Martin has been saying it for a long time and I don't wish to speak ill of the big man, but a few things I have looked at on the "Clubcard Deals" aren't great value:

    e.g. RAC basic cover:

According to Tesco website "normal price £57", "tesco deals price £14.25"

    However

    Through Quidco £34.99 with £25 cashback = £10

Therefore you'd be better off using your Tesco clubcard vouchers in store for shopping and using the saved cash to buy cover through Quidco.

For other things, maybe its better to use clubcard deals, I don't know... just wanted to let people know that Martin's (seemingly) very hard line telling people to never use clubcard points in store might not be so true in the end.

    Hi Morpheus,

It's always true that you're worse off using vouchers in store, providing that is there are things in the Deals brochure you want. Yet, this doesn't mean "all clubcard deals are a good deal."

To be fair what you've picked out above is a very specific niche note (and one thats been in the weekly email before) involving a cashback sites; rather than a general rule.

It's important to carefully pick what you redeam on to maximise the voucher value. As I put in the first post, never assume the listed price is what you'd actually pay as its usually a little cheaper.

However on the whole there are a lot of things via the Deals brochure that work out very good value; and especially with this deal that leave you in heavy profit.

    Martin :)

Sent OM down to the nearest Mr T's as we are building up points for our holiday next year.
Interesting development in Swansea Marina: NO signs to be seen for the offer and stocks very low throughout the range, with no sign of the re-filling that is usaul at this time of day.
The points were added by the till though!

Yes this works. Bought some just 10 mins ago.

Where does everyone get these great deals for holidays from. Do you convert to airmiles or are holidays in the deals brochure too?

Just back from Bletchley Tesco. I had the last 6 off the shelf. I think another MSE had been in before me! Points added fine.
  • Not great for the environment though if the stuff just gets chucked, but its always good to get money from the giant Tesco! :)
  • Hi. It still works online. Just bought some online and used £10 off £30 code as well. Saves me carrying it home. Thanks to everybody for this.
