Barclays Blue Rewards Technical Error When Redeeming

I helped a relative who encountered this problem about 10 days ago, and rang Barclays. The upshot was a 45 minute phone call which ascertained that telephone banking cannot release the reward, and neither can the branch.
Deleting cookies and using a different browser was suggested but does not work.
The only way to release the funds is to opt out of blue rewards. The funds then immediately appear in your current account. You can then presumably opt back in if you wish.0 -
Moan and complain; especially if you are having to spend a long time (including making phone calls) to get this sorted.
I did this a few weeks ago with Kaspersky and the Go To bank gave me £50 compensation.0 -
Ignore Mchambers, he's a money grubbing twit who complains about minor issues to scrounge money from the bank.
You wouldn't likely get anything from this complaint unless you could show that not being able to redeem this blue rewards money has caused you real problems.0 -

I was having the same issue using Chrome. Contacting CS via messaging and phone proved useless. Deleting cookies etc did not work.
I managed to successfully redeem my rewards using the Barclays app on my phone.0 -
I was also having trouble redeeming my blue rewards, been getting the error message mentioned in the OP for days now.
Just tried again a few minutes ago and managed to redeem rewards on two accounts.0 -

I've had a different problem with Barclays........twice in the last 3 weeks I've had to re-register the Barclays android app on my phone. They blamed this on systems update issues when I asked about it on their Facebook page today.
Maybe these systems updates in preparation for splitting the bank in two next year are causing all the current issues. Just a pity they don't warn us in advance or at least post them on the website as soon as they know about them instead of pretending all is working fine and giving green ticks.Never trust a financial institution.
