Dumped Virgin Media. TV and Phone line. Now they want their Tivo box (that I did not know I was renting) back.
Any recommendations for a cheap box to record freeview on?

A Humax box might be an option.0 -
Check your TV - does it have a USB socket? If you plug a USB stick or external hard drive into it, it may give you basic Freeview recording.0

Virgin never hid the fact TiVo was their kit! Any device stating Freeview Play will give you what you want - mines a Panasonic.0

Unlike Sky, all the VM kit is leased, and must be returned at termination of the contract. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Anything that has Freeview Play, as above, but also YouView boxes (Humax or BT branded ones, not TalkTalk) will do a great job and can probably be had cheaper. Freeview Play and Youview give you the online catch-up stuff too.0

I have two Youview boxes .One is from another address but works ok and IMV it records at better quality than the Humax recorder I have.
I would think you would have to have a TalkTalk broadband catchup contract to get it to work with the catch-up Iplayer services but should work ok for basic recording.Talktalk have recently updated the system and improved it in many ways
There are quite a few on Ebay now for very low prices0 -

How do you people getaway with selling Sky Q boxes on ebay, then?0 -

I have no idea, I don't even know if they would work.0 -
People sell them before the owners remind them that a return is required,so they end up paying the owner more than they got on Ebay.0
