Timing belts

I am sure Haynes made a manual that showed you how to change the timing belts on most cars and will probably tell you the time to change them.0

It also depends on the quality of the belt, how well it was fitted, and how old the belt was off the shelf before it was fitted. Timing belt shelf-life is 8 years and I've been sold one older than that on about three occasions and had to return it (checked by phoning Gates technical).0

40k-60k miles or 5 years is usually a good interval, unless timing belt technology has changed significantly.
Peugeots do have extended schedules though, some of theirs are 100k interval. Too long if you ask me.
The one on my wife's car (not a Peugeot or Citroen) is 100k or ten years, whichever comes first.0 -

Some of these longer intervals have subsequently been revised down due to belt failure within the service period0 -
Mk 1 focus was 100K or 10 years with very few reported failures. You have still not told us what the car and engine combo is. If you let us know I am sure somebody will be able to give the correct answer.0

It may have been revised up. The manufacturer’s export service info cd states that the belt and tensioner should be replaced at 200,000 km
I doubt I’ll be leaving that long. It looks like a pig of a job though.0 -
Theres only two types of belts ones that have snapped and ones that will just get the thing done end of peace of mind and all that my mother outlaws vectra let go on a country road middle of nowhere at 11pm I had to drive to her and wait with her car for 2 hours whilst the AA decided to turn up in the freezing cold as well, Meanwhile my wife took her back home in warm0
