I've phoned BT three times - each they deny the MSE statement!

Other BT customers who have taken out a promo offer have posted on this forum. on the BT Community forums and the HDUK forums that they too have had to pay the increase.

I repeat - the only source of this statement is MSE - it does NOT appear on any BT website !!

MSE have so far failed to confirm their statement to me!

    You have been very lucky!

Something very fishy & stinky going on here!

I’ve posted on the BT Community forums and even had one of the mods contact me.

I renewed my BB deal in early October and received an email to say only my Anytime calls package was going up. It was a little confusing as it also told me to click Act Now to prevent my BB going up. Clicking that link showed that what I was paying now would be what I would be paying in January.

I have since chatted to BT Retentions who have confirmed no BB increase , both rep and her manager. Online chat said the same. I was told it was because I had just renewed in October.

The only person to tell me it was going up was the BT Community moderator who phoned me.

With 3 people telling me it won’t go up along with one screenshot I will be complaining if it does.

    No

    They are mistaken

The whole point is that no-one has to pay the increase.
Thanks to the price increase coming next year, everyone can now get out of the contract scot free and take another one elsewhere as a new customer and get all the deals (cashback/reduced cost for 12/18 months etc) only offered to new customers!

This is what I was sent on the 28th November:

    Hello,

We're writing to tell you that the price of your calls will be changing from 7 January 2018. We've put the changes in a simple table below for you.

We've been making improvements to your BT services to offer you more than ever before. We're not stopping there, we've got some exciting new developments in the pipeline for 2018.

You don't need to do anything but if you want to change something, please give us a call. If you want to leave and you're within your minimum contract term, you'll need to call us within 30 days of receiving this email to avoid paying a charge for leaving early. You'll need to give us 30 days' notice to leave (or 14 days if you're switching to a new provider). We won't charge you for any increase in price during that time.

See how your prices are changing

If you've got other services that aren't showing here, don't worry. It means those prices aren't changing.

Standard prices for calls that aren't included in your Calling Plan are increasing on 7 January 2018 as follows:

    • Calls to UK landlines and the Access Charge for calls to Service Numbers will go from 12p to 13p a minute • Calls to mobiles from your landline are going up from 16p to 17p a minute. (But if you have the Unlimited Anytime Calls plan, you'll pay half price with a change from 8p to 8.5p a minute) • International calls from your landline are increasing from 46p to 50p for countries in Band A, 76p to 80p for Band B and 136p to 140p for Band C. Visit bt.com/international for more information • The set-up fee for calls will go from 21p to 22p per call.

No where does it say I will be paying more for my broadband. I was connected in October 2017.

    OK let me clarify ...

Of course nobody HAS to pay the increase - they can leave and go elsewhere.

I am querying the statement put out by MSE that "If you're on a promo or introductory deal your monthly price won't go up"

I want to stay with BT at my promo price until the end of my 12 months promo deal. If the above statement is correct then I should be able to do so!

However that statement is denied by BT and the only source is MSE and they have not confirmed it to me - I sent the MSE team an email yesterday.

If the statement is untrue then MSE should correct it and I will probably decide to pay the extra £2.50 for the remaining 7 months of my promo deal and then consider my options.

I hope that clarifies my query.

Until MSE confirms or corrects their statement - any defence of them is subject to further scrutiny.

Shame after all this tme, nobody from MSE has replied either to my forum posts or to my direct emails to the editorial team.

It seems to me that MSE cannot bring themselves to admit editorial mistakes ! Very sloppy and tarnishes the reputation of MSE.

I took out my bt deal in October 2017, and my price has not increased.
When I called BT they were very keen to get me on a new deal but i refused, and was absolutely clear I wanted to stay on the same tariff.
