  • Hope DS is feeling brighter.

    Great news on the extra bits of money.
  • HI people, ds feeling a bit better today just a sore throat and a bit of a cough lingering he didn't go out last night but gave out sweets when kids came to the door.

    I'm currently on a break between painting, first coat done this morning now waiting a few hours until I can do the second coat then tomorrow I can finish the varnishing and window sill.

    DH paid today so I've paid the last installment of ds trip, glad he's going but ooh that would be a nice figure off the debt! Just about to update ynab for the month. Lots of surveys done yesterday and also have listed the netbook, a chap was messing me around so not sold yet. I have a book to sell so will get that ready to go for tomorrow.

    DD birthday presents ordered, she is having 2 friends round for tea (takeaway) and then one friend is staying over night. She is already singing Xmas songs :xmastree:

    £350 owed in expenses this month, I will just wait until mortgage is finalised in case there's anything outstanding. I was thinking about an extra job to get some more cash in but then realised that I need to expand my own business to get more income rather than work somewhere else. On Monday I'm going to start looking for another venue to add an extra class, it will be in a different county so will feed into the club there when the kids are old enough.

    Plans up until Xmas:
    * Finish decorating ds bedroom - need to paint, do next coat of varnish, need curtain rail, curtains and lampshade, and finally carpet. Not much really. - Painting nearly finished
    * Pay final installment of ds school trip - £200 to pay by 1st November - paid. :j
    * Dd is now going to Barcelona with school next year - deposit paid but need to find out when next installment is, outstanding balance is £500.
    * Hopefully get remortgage sorted, valuer coming on Monday and then wait and see what's next to do. Valuer been, email received from legal team to say mortgage deeds had been obtained and have received copy of mortgage offer.
    * Apart from visiting friend in half term and dd birthday in November, no major trips or expenses before Xmas (touch wood). Done.

    We owe some bits and pieces of money so must may sure that they are paid asap:
    * Tin £100 paid
    * Savings - £200
    * Dad - £300
    * Work - £35
    * Run Club - £80

  • Phew another busy day. Sanded ds bedroom door and then varnished the whole room with a second coat, and window sill ready to gloss tomorrow - I can't find the new vent cover we've brought no doubt it will turn up. I've ordered his curtains, curtain pole and lampshade through cashback site. I was going to buy him a new duvet but a visit round to my folks resulted in new duvet covets and a duvet :j Hubby and I have just moved back his chest of drawers so I can see space in my room again! Carpet next month yay.

    I was going to list a few things today but haven't had time, been for a 5 mile run with a friend and then a bit of shopping for tea. Just going to catch up on some surveys this evening and relax, everything ready for volunteering in the morning.

    I have really enjoyed my week off, I can see the emails sitting there waiting to be answered but I've been strong and not engaged. Monday will be here soon enough. 7 weeks then off for Xmas holidays :D

  • Good afternoon,

    Got through the work emails no problem great to be planning and organising again, had to pop out and buy a 2019 diary but it only cost £1 so pleased with that. A couple of parcels arived today - dd birthday presents and also ds lightshade and curtains, still waiting on curtain pole.

    YNAB updated, child benefit in tomorrow and still due some survey submissions to be approved before I can request a pay out.

    DH will need to go and visit family soon, his sister is not coping well so as their brother is a complete waste of space it's up to him to obviously support. F-i-L operation is next week so he is going to go down after that.

    I've emailed a school r.e. using their hall for the new session for my business, if they can't help there's lots more options. New block of existing sessions start tomorrow, only one person has paid so far!

    No more news on remortgage at the moment, just a waiting game I suppose.

    Plans up until Xmas:
    * Finish decorating ds bedroom - need to paint, do next coat of varnish, need curtain rail, curtains and lampshade, and finally carpet. Not much really. - Painting and varnishing finished, lamp shade up.

  • Morning all, well what a crappy week I've had tonsillitis so have spent much of the week in pain. Currently still sitting in my pyjamas watching tv and trying to find the motivation to actually do something.

    Anyway not much happened this week in terms of surveys but work expenses have gone in the bank today which is great and also had news that our mortgage funds are being paid over today and complete on Monday :j

    Waiting for some survey money to come in and then that will go to credit card, after I've finished xmas shopping I'll be really attacking this.

  • Well that has to have been the worst week that I can remember for a while, aside from the tonsillitis which pales into nothing compared with the rest of the news this week - dh friend unfortunately took his own life, a work colleague of dh (only 30) diagnosed with bone cancer and it's already spread to his lungs, and last night had news that an old friend from my home town died from a brain tumour which he's been battling for just over a year! Really makes you appreciate what you've got and get on with life. We had a nice family evening together last night just watching a film and being together.

    Mortgage completed today, it's so great being able to log in and seeing all the figures although it does make it tempting to overpay - must concentrate on credit card! Just got to wait out for a few days in case of any last charges or monies owed, it's great to be free of the mortgage nightmare we were in and have certainly learnt our lesson.

    Ds bedroom is done apart from his carpet, it's work in progress now to get him to stay in it all night as he's been in our room for so long.

    So plans now until Xmas:
    * Carpet in ds room next month.
    * Xmas presents - try to stick to money saved for presents then food won't be too much.
    * Continue with surveys etc to keep chipping away at credit card.

    Time to potter around, get things in order, chill out at Xmas and bring on 2019.

  • Hope the tonsillitis is easing, sorry to hear that you have had lots of bad news this week, so sad.

    Take care xx
  • Morning, currently procrastinating instead of cleaning up the house!

    I've updated my signature with latest payments gone out, old mortgage company refunded this month's payment but not going to touch it as still waiting to see if redemption payment will be charged and if first payment for new mortgage is slightly higher. Paid monthly payment to credit card and went to carpet shop this morning to look at matching carpet in dd's bedroom for ds room. Not sure if we have the same one so dh going to look when he gets home but one sample is very similar so may go with that anyway and make a note of the name this time.

    F-i-L currently in surgery, will wait for a phone call later.

    Busy weekend volunteering as usual and must get out for a walk at some point.
