Hope your brother recovers well POPPYOSCAR. The NHS is wonderful, despite its problems. It's over nineteen years since my newborn son was given four hours to live. He had four operations that night, and celebrated his 19th birthday earlier this year.0

Took over two hours for an ambulance when a young lad at our youth club broke his arm and went into shock!
No we are not in the middle of nowhere.
There have been at least two ambulance documentaries recently and it showed that a lot of the problems were down to idiots calling for an ambulance when they really didn't need anything even close to an emergency vehicle. It's nothing , not nothink.0 -
Hi POPPYOSCAR. Glad he has pulled through. I hate to put a dampener on the subject but emergency care and routine outpatient treatment for someone recovering seems to me to be poles apart! Hope this is not true in your case . Best wishes to you and your brother.Lj"if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170

I'm quite surprised that the OP hasn't been back to update this thread whilst posting on other threads.
However, I hope her brother is doing well and continues to do well.0 -

Perhaps all logic (for us lesser mortals) goes out of the window in times like this. Perhaps Poppy has other things to think of whilst trying to keep some sort of normality.

But if you want to feel surprised at the non-update, then let it be so. If you feel the need to dig at a lack of posting on the correct threads then I pity you and hope you never find yourself in a situation that turns your world upside-down.0 -

Tell me about it, as I said earlier I work in a sports complex and the amount of times we are asked to call a ambulance for minor injuries is incredible, in fact a guy with a staved thumb put a complaint against me for refusing to call a ambulance for him0 -

I hope that Poppy's brother's condition starts to improve and as per my earlier post, my fingers are still crossed for a full recovery. It sounds like the hospital staff are doing a great job.0 -
Sorry Pollycat I originally only started this thread as a thank you to the people working in the NHS.
I have only really replied to those posts which have sort of asked how he is.0 -

Thank you theonlywayisup.
You are so right.
My head is all over the place at the moment. I am trying to carry on as normal and sometimes it works and other times not so.
You should see our house. I started to put the decorations up but had to stop I do not want to do it but have family over Christmas day so I want to for them.
I was very upset last time I went to see him as just before i got there he had taken a turn for the worse and was put back on the ventilator. He had a high temperature and was distressed so they heavily sedated him.
They have given him antibiotics and his temp is down now.
I am leaving soon to go to the hospital so hopefully he will be awake and better.
The hospital have said that there will be good and bad days.0 -

I can only imagine what that must have been like for you.
So pleased you had such a happy outcome.0
