I got one for my daughter in law last Christmas from the Welsh shop in Swansea market, it was a good heavy one £19.99 .0

My mum uses an ancient bakestone to make welsh cakes. It's so heavy she can hardly lift it. She also makes lovely Teisien Lap.0

We make these all the time in the steelworks at Port Talbot. Cannot believe they sell them for that amount0

That's where my Dad used to get them from for my mother. I had hoped to inherit but burglars had other ideas when my parents died years ago and stole it.
I've since bought a couple from Swansea market but they have been useless lightweights. Your post reminded me where the best came from so I've just rung my brother to see if he has any contacts to get me one made. I do hope so as my welsh cakes took hours to make in my frying pan and my DD loves them - as do I!!!~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

I use my Mother-in-laws bakestone made in the Port Talbot steel works when it first opened by my Father-in-law. When she died it was all I wanted from the house so I could carrry on making welsh cakes.

do you make these to order or can you call at the steel works and buy from them?
Thanks

I dont think you can call and order one But you could always "befriend" a steel worker and I am sure they would be able to get one for you.:j I have a persecution complex. Everytime I pass a shoe shop they persecute me till I buy them:j0
