ok, so me car just died!

i was going to get rid of it in new year anyway and get something small and cheap to run (i have a galaxy atm)

    but.....

it is spluttering, keeps stalling, is smelling, and it just conked out but luckily in my road!! anyways, ex husband (bless him) is gonna take a look this afternoon and then run me to the shops:) i will be buying three weeks worth of milk and freezing it, and thanks to this thread, i have huge amounts of stock so wont need to go shopping for a while (picked up some more bits this mornng when i was out).

What a pain Jamie :( Hope ex-h is able to keep it going for you for a bit longer :) (we are stretching our car out as long as possible... considering it's age and mileage it has done wonderfully well! but thankfully I can walk to the shops within 10-20mins). Are you far from the shops? Console yourself with not being able to spend money willy-nilly and the extra exercise!

I've come on the pc to get Kethry's bread recipe... and I am still chatting online..... *note to self... "YG.. get doing somat!!!"* lol!

YG - i dont think he will be able to get it going:( i think its a garage job and im not prepared to pay out to get it fixed, purely because i know it will cost me at least £400 to get it through its MOT in january, which was why i was going to just get a little runaround instead, TBH, its falling apart, the bumper is falling off, the some of the seats are broken (so ive taken them out) the central locking is broken, the boot wont open, basically its a wreck lol, so i think i will cut my losses, save the £20+ petrol costs per week with the rest of the money i am saving towards new car (wont need to tax it at end of december either).

its a pain, but i will cope until i have the money for another car!

my neighbour has offered to take dd to nursery on rainy mornings if she is there (bless)

im 10 mins walk from bognor town centre if i need to go shopping. i can get my pet feeds delivered if i need to.
ill cope:D (i didnt pass my test until i was 30 (5 years ago) so it isnt that much of a hardship!

Morning Everyone hope today is nicer weather than yesterday!

Yategirl I just had to have one of those dehydrators so I've bought myself an early Christmas present.I did ring Westfalia though about the plugs and they said that they fit ENGLISH 3 pin standard plugs to their products so no probs there.

I was looking at the Onion Marmalade recipe last night and was wondering is it sweet like marmalade or more like a chutney?

Taurusb I have a great Ice cream recipe that is fruit based but egg free and best of all you dont have to make a custard. Will post the recipe later but for now have to go and do battle with some Pizza dough

Lashy - be proud of being an eco freak! :D I'm one too... and learning more everyday :D I got my worm bin set up a couple of years ago but it failed and I don't know why... didn't get it going this summer as we have been doing major work on the garden but will do next year... but I have to say... my compost bin was full of worms this year and the compost has been wonderful! Am getting chickens soon so am looking forward to even better compost :rotfl: (forget the eggs... I want the compost :rotfl: )

Lesley - thanks for the info on the dehydrator plug.. dh thought it would be ok and told me to order it anyway! which one did you go for? I couldn't see much difference but went for the one which would have been much more expensive but when reduced was only £1 dearer!! Not sure about the onion marmalade... my friend made some (different recipe) a while back and it was sweet but savoury and was so yummy! with a roast dinner or bubble & squeak or cheese sandwiches or......... :rotfl: :rotfl:

Jamie - that is a pain... but yes.. you manage... just like I know I will when I finally have to let dh have the car for work.. (still waiting to hear from boss :( ).

Well... I did get the flour out... and I have some dough sat here.... but I put the butter in at the wrong time and you know... this dough don't look right... has risen though so I'll give it a chance!
