morwenna , my bump is getting bit uncomfy now. it fights back, lol.
i'm 33 weeks todays.
here a pic when i was 31 +2
it not changed much since then.
as for dough balls i've tried to make the time 2 days in a row now to do them. still not.
so i am gonna make them this evening and have them as a takeaway typ while watching a dvd. i've not got mozerlla but gonna do two lots one with chedder cheese and one without. see what we prefer.
Everyone seems so busy baking away at the mo. i must get back into.
Oh wow! What a neat bump! I looked like the proverbial "galleon in full sail" with mine (apart from DD2) mind it was the eighties and Princess Di had set the trend in maternity wear :rotfl:
DD2 was born at 25 weeks, so no bump at all with her. And I was so looking forward to buying some trendy maternity wear too.
Re doughballs any hints gratefully received, I would love to surprise my Sis with these, she has a bad week ahead but it is her birthday on Friday0 -
well I spent all yesterday evening making sausages, and its safe to say that Mr T need not lose sleep over a major drop in sausage sales. what a faf!! Of course if I had a nice expensiv elecric mincer/sausage stuffer it would pobably have been a whole bit easier, because the damn mincer wouldnt mince and kept jamming the cutter, so i resorted to the food processor which wasnt really gutsy enough for the job. And because the mince wasnt properly minced, it kept jamming the nozzle when it came to stuffing them!
Think I might try just once more, but get the butcher to mince the belly pork for me. Still I do have 1.5 lbs saussies in the freezer, so heres hoping they actually taste good after all my hard work, if worst comes to worst they will probably casserole or make toad. Very disappointed tho, my vison of home made saussies and beans probabably will be all but a fleeting reality0 -
jcr16 I cant believe your bump is so small!!I was huge with all my babies and my last one was 10lb 1oz and I'm only 4'11"
I've decided that tomorrow is going to be a bread baking day and I'll try and make enough for the week.I've got 2 BM's now so it should be no problems to make enough bread so that I can freeze it for later in the week.I want to make some Pizza bases and hot cross buns too as I bought some from Mozzies on Friday and the kids loved them. They are a lot spicier than my normal currant bread so I'll have to look for a nice recipe
Hopefully my mincer and burger press will arrive from Lakeland so that I can have a play:D
Morwenna I add a couple of tsps of mixed herbs to my pizza dough and going on that principle I would add the same to my doughball dough and it should give them that little bit of extra taste

Hi Jackie :hello: Did you have any success with the braid? (Enquiring minds need to know!)
Hi Morwenna,
Im afraid I havent tried it yet. Ive been awfully busy and ive just not had time. I was going to try it either tomorrow or Tuesday (hopefully).
Infact, tomorrow might be a bad idea cos its my birthday, and probably mum, dad & sis will all desend on me lol.
Does anyone know if you can freeze the apple braid. I am planning to do a bakathon so Im hoping to freeze alot of stuff. I need to really get into this baking cos i spend a fortune on cakes and biscuits for my lot. I must spend anything between £5 - £10 per week on junk food like that:eek: . So, im thinking if I make it myself it might save me money.
Willlet you know the outcome of the apple braid as soon as I try it.

lol I only have ds and I was huge with him...he weighed 11lbs:eek: !!!!
my panny has gone a bit mad today, loaves coming out funny which is odd....they seem small and shrunken:rolleyes: ......could it be my yeast? i am using a big pack of fast action yeast which has been open about a month.....the bread has been great until today.
Am going to try another loaf on the timer ready for the morning using new pack of yeast.....hope the thing hasnt broken:eek:0 -

Yes you can freeze the braid cos I've done it but dont put the icing on until you defrost it as it goes all runny and yucky when it defrosts. Also I froze mine wrapped in foil so that I could plonk it straight in the oven and serve it warm and it was gorgeous
Noahspennilessmum it sounds like stale yeast to me.But then again it could be too much fluid or a fluctuation in room temps. So dont be downhearted if using the new yeast doesnt give much of an improvement as breadmaking can be extremely variable sometimes

I froze the braid in serving size slices, putting each into a very cheap thin bag ready for ds's packed lunch."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Right Ive made the apple braid, its just rising at the moment before I put it in the oven.
Ive put in a sachet of yeast, is that right? Cos when I was rolling it out, i heard alot of bubbles popping.
Also, do i put it in the oven wrapped in foil or without foil.
