Cooling off period for a renewed contract?

So I was offered a £7.50 monthly discount with Virgin Media if I renewed my contract for 12 months. I did so, however I received an email afterwards thanking me for renewing my discount and saying I could enjoy my discount for "6 months". No where at all did it say the discount was only for 6 months before I agreed to renew the contract. Because it only referred to the 12 month contract and a "monthly discount of £7.50", I assumed that was for the whole period. I would have switched to a better new customer deal if I'd known.

My question is, does the 14 day cooling off period apply to contracts that have been renewed?

    No.

How were you offered the deal? Email, phonecall? You're going to have to speak to Virgin really.

I don't believe so, no. Not the same thing as a new customer.

Virgin did use to have their own 7 day cooling off period as such but whether they still do this I don't know and they're not obliged to do this anyway.

You can try phoning them back and seeing where you can go from here.

In the small print on 2nd page
Got a query with your contract or wish to cancel?
You can speak to our team on 0345 234 0754* anytime Monday
to Friday; 8am to 8pm on Saturdays; and 9am to 5pm on
Sundays and Bank Holidays. Please have your account number
(which you can find at the top of this contract) to hand. To
cancel you have FOURTEEN days from the day after you place
    your order to do so.

Fairly normal for it to not be quite what you expect.

Just phone them up politely and explain it's not what was agreed.

Just takes about 3 calls in total lol

Virgin are quite bad for their bait and switch tactics on the phone, you are lucky to actually have some paperwork to look at!!
