It sounds like your body has gone into holiday mode - the one where you are ill the moment you stop work because finally, your body thinks it can relax! I do hope you are fighting fit very soon.

How long is your DSis staying with you? Much as I love my sister, we both realised that 6 months was the limit and we both needed our own space (we're pretty much chalk and cheese :rotfl:)

Thanks dND. Unfortunately as me & DSis are both unwell, we are unable to attend an 18th Birthday party at my cousin’s house - family only & barbecue as well :(

I have no idea how long she is staying  we are just winging it at the moment :rotfl:

I just need to remember I have a wonderful DH who will not let me be bullied by anyone :D regardless of who it is :D

My main goal is to keep my kitchen tidy then completely sort one bag at a time, making sure that EVERYTHING is put away. It will be slowly, slowly catchee monkey :rotfl:

Advice for the coughing: lie down and mist spray some water from a squirty bottle straight up, about 3 times is enough. Close your eyes or hide under the blanket, because it will fall down again :) inhale deeply for a few times

I hope the cough and cold is abating today. I like a spoonful of honey just left to dissolve and run down my throat gradually, the same idea as boiled sweets. It probably is the famed "can be ill now" women seem to get when a huge task is completed, and your task seems to have been both huge and with ongoing complications. You have made important steps towards the simpler life, though.
I'm debating one of the cordless vacuum cleaners, as my old handheld has stopped taking a charge, and they've obviously come on in the twelve years I've had it. I do have a Henry, but I want to clean the car without lots of extension cables, and generally do a quick whiz round in the house without getting out the big cleaner. Any suggestions welcome.
    Enjoy the Bank Holiday everyone.

    Hi Molillie,

Thanks for that. DH bought me some cough medicine which is doing its loosening job :rotfl: but still have cough & snotty nose. After 10 mins sitting up & coughing I can now lie down & sleep - so I think it is definitely getting better:T

Unfortunately no experience of cordless vacs - I think I would like one but no space for the charging point & am also a bit sceptical about the running time :rotfl:

Anyway, I have been posting on the Clutter Free thread & have 4 bags of donations to charity shop - nearly all of which is from France + DH posted a box of DVDs to Zi**it on Saturday - 27 DVDs sold also from France.

Hope everyone has lots of sunshine with a cooling breeze :rotfl: my garden is a sun trap so I can sit out on the new to me garden furniture (from France) getting a tan - bliss :)

MrsSD, it sounds like you're doing the right thing for your health. relaxing in warmth. Do you think you might have had a pollen allergy type of thing to start it? Well done on keeping on shifting things out. The temptation after a move is just to tidy away the full boxes for a while.

I hope that everyone has been doing well, and not suffering thunderstorms.

I have a cordless AEG ergorapido, I'm on my 2nd one now, I love it. I can do the entire house (3 bed semi) without s problem. We only have hard floors so no idea how it fares on carpet but it's fab, lightweight and very easy to manoeuvre. My DD brought a vax one but it really doesn't corner well.

Thank you Pooky, I've just looked that one up, it seems just what I want. I still have a big cleaner, so something very light and manoeuvrable is ideal.
  • Molillie, not an option putting boxes & crates away - there is nowhere for them to go! A few light weight boxes & bits can go in the loft but the rest will have to be sorted - I can see lots of cs visits & eb*ying in the future :rotfl: Still working on the slow & steady wins the race. DSis will be visiting Ik*a with my DH to see about a shelving unit & if it will fit in her small bedroom :o

Today DSis & I took the four bags to the cs - so now have a space for more cs donations :T

Today DH had a good gardening session with a little input from me & DSis so 2 Large bags of garden waste ready for collection :T & the whole garden looks a lot neater :j

So the Simpler Life will happen but not this side of XMas :o:D:o

  • The Ik*a trip was a nightmare (apparently it is like a rat maze  ) but DSis has decided on what she wants. However sale starts next week so she is waiting to see if she can save a bit of money :D So no more unpacking French stuff at the moment :(
However, I have restarted my own decluttering - yesterday I decluttered & tidied the bathroom. I was going to finish cleaning the bathroom today but cba as I want to build up my decluttering numbers :rotfl:
So I decided to re-declutter & reorganise my kitchen cupboards :D Made a good start, several packets of 9 years ood coffee beans (aspirational - was going to use grinder & become a coffee connoisseur :rotfl: oh, how foolish:rotfl: ) binned, some packaging recycled & a dozen or more crockery items for cs. As I had such a good result today, I will continue in the kitchen tomorrow :rotfl:

I may not get my Simpler Life as early as I wanted but I am not going to let it stress me out - I know it will happen if I am prepared to put the work in:D
