  • Hi there fellow posters,

Life in France is a little simpler - my DNeph has gone back to his flat so peace reigns - he & my DSis do rub each other the wrong way even though they do love each other :rotfl:

Tomorrow the three of us will get back to it - you never know we may manage to declutter :o

    See you soon

I'm about 45 mins south of Bergerac, (not far from Cancon). It's been glorious but now running round like a mad thing bringing in all the stuff on the patio I'm trying to sort (and divest myself of), before any of the threatened orages happen.

You can bet that once I've done that I'll have very little rain but if I leave it and hope, the full force will hit here :rotfl:

  • Great to have the original tread back! Well done MrsSalad, this must be the first time that the black hole that eats treads gave one back!

I'm in for a lazy weekend. Friday I came home from work tired and with running eyes (we got some flowers at work, they looked devine but I think I might be alergic to them...) and indulged in a loooong nap and felt better afterwards. Yesterday I did some household stuff including laundry, which I let dry outside for the first time this year. In the afternoon I took a long walk and read on a bench in the forest, got my first sunburn of this year and quite possibly also a sunstroke as in the evening I had a horrid headache. Was at my sisters to plan our holidays, but all we did was watching telly and eating pizza and then I left as I could hardly focus on anything and had an early night.
Today I'm much better, walk will have to wait until it is cooler in the evening (actually wanted to go in the morning, but spent too much time writting an email to a friend...) and the rest of the day will be spent on the balcony with my knitting and a book.

MrsSalad I'm glad the situation is improving and you start to see some results. How much time do you have before the house is sold or you have to go back to the UK?

dND, did l'orage happen? This must be about the only French word I remember.... Alongside le chauffage (don't ask why I remember that!) and gare de peage... And that is after 9 years of French at school....

I changed my wardrobe from winter to summer, putting all the 60den tights away and binning some that were starting to look bad. I also bought the first item of clothing, a red blouse. Yesterday I felt the urge to buy lovely spring shoes, but that urge has passed... I will need a pair of flat though, as the ones I'm having won't last me through the summer, so I might buy a pair of brown ones for a change or something slightly open. I can't wear "regular" sandals as this hurts too much when my feet swell in the heat, but I love something like pumps or ballet flats with holes.

I had one of these moments of insights lately. We talked about shopping at work and I realised that the thought of going into town to go shopping annoys me more than it makes me happy. A few years back I loved to browse shops all the time, but now I hardly ever go into town unless I really need something and even then, all these people annoy me, I feel the pressure to find the things I need/want and I'd rather be home cooking dinner anyways...
I do still love to browse shops when I am on holidays but there is no time pressure and when it is too busy we can just leave again. But even there i don't just browse mindlessly but often have a small shopping list of things I want. Last year for example it was a flask and a pie dish, I had a little book wishlist and a list of yarn for certain projects. And quite often my list contains every day items too because I can't be bothered to go into town to buy tights or stock up on cosmetics and just think "We'll walk past a M+S or a Svperdrug somewhere anyways."

    Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

Nothing yet RR but the storms are always a bit hit or miss :) Your memories of school French are at least useful. I'm still wondering if I'll ever need to inquire about my aunt's pen!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

It sounds like you hit one of those 'stop the world, I want to get off' places. I think that life today is too built round on keeping you in the feeding frenzy of shopping to fill the tills of already mega businesses. Thankfully at least some of us stop to smell the roses :D

    Have a great week everyone.

Still following this thread although I rarely seem to post now. I am still trying to live more simply and definitely decluttering again.
Been feeling a bit rubbish the last couple of days, just seem to be tired and can't put my finger on what is wrong. Think it could be a case of "you are what you eat", as I have over indulged in cake and choc lately.... Smack on the wrist for myself and must get back to being healthy again. Veg delivery is coming soon and I love it as it is always fresh and healthy and just in a cardboard box with no plastic. It is a local chap I discovered on FB and it is so much better than buying in a SM. Although if I had the time I would be growing some veg myself.
Anyway, off to buy some new trainers and pj's in a bit.

Ploppy, you might enjoy a programme on tonight which is about that very topic:

    From the BBC News page,

Britain's Fat Fight with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall is on BBC One at 21:00 on Wednesday, 25 April, and will be available on iPlayer afterwards

I know I'll be watching it. It's about the way we are persuaded to eat an unhealthy amount of sugar. Not that I need persuading...:(

  • Hi everyone,

The signing is on Friday, but the owners to be are letting us stay until the end of May. We are hoping to be out by the 20th - so if stuff doesn’t sell it will be taken to the Tip :(

DSis is being brutal - 9 trips to Tip with the car full to the gunnels, 5 motorbike trips to bottle Bank & 3 trips to clothing bank :rotfl: 6 wheelie bins emptied, 4 bedrooms worth of furniture sold & a few sales of toys, books, garden furniture, ornaments, garden tools etc.

Only problem is that we seem to start a room but not finish it - :rotfl: until today :rotfl:

I will not get downhearted, I will not get downhearted, I will not get downhearted, :rotfl:

Will update after the weekend when we are hoping that lots of people turn up for house clearance (Vide Maison)
