Asda Over Charge - What's the latest policy?

Options
Hi folks,

I shop at Asda every now and again, but on my last two occasions, on checking my receipt as I left the store, I noticed that I had been incorrectly (over) charged for items.

I can't remember the first item, but last week I was chargeed £1.73 for apples that should have been £1.28. On the first occasion, the lady behind the customer service counter gave me and extra ten pence to make up for the inconvenience (Wow!). The second time the same lady gave me nothing extra.

I am sure that when the same thing happened to me earlier this year, I was given a £1 voucher. So I asked the lady did they still give out the £1 vouchers and she said that they stopped that about 9 months ago.

Just wondering if any one else knows what the policy is and what I should be expecting (if anything). I didn't mind only getting the diffeernce in being over charged, but the last few experiences seem to have been inconsitent.

BTW, this was in the Peterborough branch.

Thanks and regards

  • It used to be the difference you were owed + a £2 gift card. York branch stopped doing it ages ago though, so as far as I know you just get back what you have been overcharged.

  • You should get the difference you have been overcharged plus a £2 gift card if they dont give it to you ask them I am sure they try and not give them out in our asda but if you ask they say I was just getting it

Current info on the Asda website: (and note it says for each product, don't let them wriggle out of it)

What happens if I am overcharged?
If you have been overcharged in any of our stores we will gladly refund the difference (if you have been overcharged) and give you a £2 Gift card voucher for each product you have been mischarged for.

I was overcharged 98p yesterday on a packet of biscuits at the Derby Spondon branch and i got my 98p back and £2 on a giftcard.
  • You've got to ask for your £2 gift card, though. Staff are advised only to issue the gift card when the customer asks for it.

The York store is in breach of company policy.

the policy is a £2.00 giftcard and a refund on the overcharge sometimes you need to ask for the giftcard as they try to avoid giving it, I was told one day the £2.00 comes out of the staffs bonus
