Bulb Energy - bogus reviews on TrustPilot?

• I left a raving review in last fortnight. I had no incentive other than i find them really good and glad i changed. i often change all my fuel, insurance providers via compare sites. I put the cost first and also take into consideration the service, hence i will not use B.T or British Gas or Sky any more!. All giant, greedy, merciless companies!.

Now i find bulb a refreshing new company and love their communication style on emails etc. I have recently found a couple of companies that suggest cheaper on my compare sites but for the first time in many years i have chosen to just hang with bulb.

This is my experience of them and i understand everyone has good and bad experiences with all companies.

If you want to call me to see i am real please ask for my number lol.. Have zero connection on a professional level with bulb, just a happy customer. No bonus or money vouchers etc where had by writing my glowing review. ;-)
• p.s further to my post earlier, i should mention that using compare sites i have kept my fuel bills to £150 per month (joint) for quite a few years despites being flexible or fixed or up and down prices of energy! im rather pleased with myself..haha

I give my readings periodically especially end of summer and after winter to make sure i am not going out of whack with payments!. I take control of my prices by being informed. (such a goody two shoes). I have my heating on lots in the winter and have a very big place with very high ceiling in old victorian place. I use very little electric though as my kids say i am a Mushroom and like to be in the low lit lamp lights lol.

So in conclusion, over a year with bulb and my prices have been in line with what i wanted to pay and in fact they say i could pay around £138 a month but as winter is here i know i should stick to paying £150 constantly a month to average out my yearly use.

Too many people just dont look into energy prices properly and the system is of kwatt charging and daily fee etc are too confusing for the too many. I have also kept my car insurance very competitive by changing to the best providers with the best no claims and excess costs etc. what they include as extras blah blah. Even after big claims the provider tries to load up your premium for the next year but i simple change to a new provider and boom get good quote and im legal!...

knowledge is power and more consumers/house holders need to be more financially savvy and do their homework, that is why so many people are always in debt with poor money management with life's expenses.

Ok off my podium .... As for Martin, i love everything he says, but im not stupid enough to know we all have variants to what would suit us best as a consumer so don't follow blindly, do your own homework thoroughly and see if a company or tariff or service etc is best for you.

I'm a Bulb customer of 7 months standing and agree with nearly everything you said. I wonder what you mean when you say you send readings periodically, personally I send meter readings each month so always have accurate bills. Obviously if you send readings less frequently things will still balance out as far as energy used is concerned but less so with regards to costs if there have been unit rate price increases or decreases.between meter readings.

I have checked the reviews on Trustpilot, but they are obviously not genuine reviews, albeit probably from genuine customers. But they have to provide five star reviews if they want their £50 referral reward. I have complained to Trustpilot and Bulb a few times as I am looking for meaningful reviews before I consider moving my business to them. I thought reviews in exchange for reward was illegal, but probably not. This should be something trading standards may be interested in pursuing.

There is definitely no tie up between posting a review on Trustpilot and getting a referral reward. You will get the referral even if you don't post on Trustpilot.

I recently had a look around at all the energy companies as we're due to switch this month, and I remember looking at Bulb Energy and rejecting them based on their terrible Trust Pilot reviews. I've gone back to look again at what's available today and suddenly there are a number of glowing reviews, all in the last week or so, and all touting their 'money saving' code that could save them and us £50. I smell a giant rat, what are the chances that these reviews are for real?

You should not accuse any company of bogus reports just because you "smell a giant rat". It could be that the previous negative reports are bogus and the recent reviews are true.

Personally, I take any and all personal reviews with a giant pinch of salt. But you could look at the histories of those posting reviews: If all they have is a single review then they could be bogus but then there are also professional reviewers who will post positive reviews in return for a fee or a product: We see this on for example disclosures on reviews on Amazon.

Hi Alan,

Well i know there is a delay between sending your meter readings and everything tying. Temperatures change from season to season and even from week to week so our consumption are up and down and really not worth logging them every month. I have owned a house for decades and know how i use my energy.

I think it is always good to defo send a reading around September (before winter hits) and around March when winter in over.. Maybe every 4 months would be good.. It all "marries out" in the end.

So i have now been with Bulb for 15 months and i have been paying £150 a month. I have been £150 a month for quite a few years as i specified with other providers!.. Well the last few months i have been collecting a bigger and bigger surplus into my account so for the first time in EVER i asked them to send me the £375 that was sitting in there will another payment due by me imminent!.. So the money was refunded into my bank account within 3 days (fast, but not necessarily will be same for everyone).

So it worked would over 15 months period i have averaged out £108 per month on duel fuel!!. Given that i have been about £150 usuage for many years i am gobsmacked. The people above who have had the polar opposite to my experience is one of those anomalies and worrying for them!.

I have often gone to providers where i have been paying more than i felt i was using initially but i always pick up the phone and query it, learn about daily charges, how they price their fuel units etc. It is all too bloody complicated for "joe bloggs" and the damn industry is way too late in making it simpler for people to understand.

Bulb do not have those unit calculators (forgot what they are called) yet but those boxes must be handy with visual check of how much money one is consuming and where it is being used?!.

people need to make it there business to learn about how fuel prices are calculated including fuel for cars etc as majority of people are ignorant on these things and start talking about room sizes and how many baths they have etc!.. not a clued up way of deciding how much fuel they are using and they cannot deal with the fuel providers on a factual, accurate basis when disputing a bill or searching for a new company.

Oh i must say i am Hormonal (female) and maybe all the hot flushes have made sure i do not have the heating on as i once used to!... so bill is now significantly lower!... (yeh i know too much information) but all relevant....ahhaha

So far i love Bulb.. and dont you love their info they give and the modern easy to use why they do it.. So user friendly.....

Mala

IWONA Post - Another who has just joined up to spam their referral link.
• There are a very high percentage of reviews where chancers are just joining Trust Pilot to post referral links.
It has also been rumoured that certain Trust Pilot staff are continually posting their own referral links and making a small fortune from it.

The whole Trust Pilot thing should independently investigated and hopefully shut down.
