HDMI/Scart/RGB/VGA etc don't use channels as Moneyineptitude as above alludes. Plug in (screw in) the satellite cable, go to the TV menu and Broadcat/Network or whatever the menu says, auto tune it, select Satellite. When finished exit the menu and then you can select the source4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Channel 31? Really?
The Source button is button 31 on the remote control, as per the diagram in the manual pdf from post 37.;)

Seriously! Why would anyone make the assumption that "it requires no setting up on the telly, other than turning to the correct source by pressing button 31 on the remote" correctly posted by emptybox was informing the OP to select channel 31.
Similarly the poster suggesting that they use a set-top aerial when they have already paid for a satellite feed to be installed to the bedrooms is just ridiculous!
The OP was given detailed instructions what they need to do well over 20 posts ago but they seem incapable of understanding and following the simple basic instructions provided.
The poke and hope method will simply not work and posting comments like "should I be choosing digital aerial" shows that they do not have a clue what the are doing but they have failed to provide any useful info to allow anyone on the forum to help, as we do not know what menu options they have selecting during set-up.
Unfortunately the TV will not suddenly start working unless the correct options are selected during set-up and this obviously requires a little common sense and logical thinking. If the TV's built-in satellite receiver is not used then the OP's daughter will need to juggle the TV and the Sky remote controls unnecessarily!0 -
I have tried to help the OP since Post#2.
Suggest you read the whole thread instead of skim reading.
The OP does not help himself.0 -
I think the biggest confusion is caused by the OP's insistence on referring to the cable connected to the satellite dish as "the aerial".
But I think they got closest to solving it in post 16. But rather than trying to tune the TV into the satellite signal they went off on a tangent by trying various methods to connect the SkyHD box to the TV.
Having said that, there's no Freesat facility on the TV as far as I can see, so connecting the satellite cable directly to it would mean having to sort all the free to air channels out themselves, whereas the daughter is already familiar with using the Sky box on the old telly.0 -
1. remove cable from sky box coming from sky dish, screw this to the SAT connection on the TV
2. follow advice in post #37 read manual page 9
3. if this doesn't work, the plug on the end of the sat dish wire may need attention make sure there is a strand of copper sticking out of the middle inside the plug and give it a little bend so it makes a connection when screwed to the TV.0
