And by coincidence as a Fire Stick user I just now received an email from Amazon telling me about this:

I got the email today too ... after I'd already seen it promoted on my Fire TV stick last night. :)

As to your casting question - no idea, I've not tried that.
  • If you are like us and are on a Virgin Package which includes some Sky channels and Catch Up TV. What are the advantages to purchasing either a Roku express stick. Amazon Fire Stick or Chromcast.. We do not have a Tivo box but the previous edition of the Virgin Box, as we refuse to pay the extra monthly premium to Virgin to upgrade to Tivo.
  • we are on A virgin TV contact . However we have another television in the house without a Virgin Box it seems a good idea to purchase either a Amazon fire Stick or a Roku Streaming stick for this television set and accept it will have limited advantages but the catch up on this other TV would be useful. Therefore we will wait until one of them comes on offer again at a cost of under £25. The price was available in early December. so we will keep our eyes open.

So YouTube on the Fire Stick is now blocked and directs you to Silk browser which has a convenient YouTube favourite already added. This rather shows Amazons desperation about the loss of YouTube.
  • My son brought me an Amazon Fire Stick for Xmas and it's brilliant! I don't have a smart TV and I don't want the hassle of connecting a HDMI cable to stream through my laptop so I've been missing on Netflix and Amazon Prime for so long now. Not anymore though! Absolutely recommend it to anyone.
