There are ways and means to get YT on a Fire TV Stick without using the Amazon version of the app.

Apparently it'll be Google blocking the app from accessing YT. So I'd say bets are off on the workarounds till after Jan 1st when YT gets blocked.

YT on the Fire TV Stick shows shows a message about no longer working from 1st Jan ... YT addon in Kodi on the Fire TV Stick does not.

But hey ... if it does stop then so what - I don't watch YT much anyway.

Meanwhile 100 million hours of YT was watched on TVs in the last year.
So, many were conned into thinking that a Fire stick was an ideal way to do this.

YT is available on lots of devices not just Firestick (yes I know it's likely to go soon).

I can get YT via TV's app, Blu-ray player, Chromecast, Roku, mobile phone, tablet, laptop, satellite receiver just to name eight devices. Hardly a shortage of possible solutions.

Haha Amazon blinked first. Ironies abound here, e.g. if Apple would only make a streaming box that was agnostic about content as an iPad, it'd be under my TV already.

Roku streaming stick is available at Tesco Dirct at £29.95 but if you use the code TDX-YHRG you will get another £5 off until the end of the week. as you will still be able to get U Tube of this device it might be a better buy than the Amazon Fire Stick which will stop allowing access to U Tube at the end of the year. I am not sure what films you will be able to get free other than those already on Freeview.

Fire TV Stick now has the Firefox for Fire TV app which allows YT access without any (current) warning.

The YouTube app on fire stick allows easy casting of any YT video to the stick from the YT phone or tablet app. Can the Firefox version do that?
