VirginMedia withdrew the offer!!! Help!

3 weeks ago, we called Virgin media as our contract was about to run out.
We are customers of them for 2 years running. Our package is 2 mb BB, Basic TV and Basic Phone. First year, they were all for £25. Last year, we called them when the contract finished and they offered us the same deal for £20, which was good at thetime as we mentioned TalkTalk offer of the last year.
This year, we called them and mentioned TalkTalk offer of £15 something. They offered us the same package for £15.50. We accepted it. Today, we got a bill in which they ask us to pay £25.25 for our package!!
We called them to ask why as we had agreed £15.50 deal for the package. They said that their ''Integrity department''
has reviewed the deal and decided to withdraw the offer from us?!! We said but this can't be as we had a contract agreed verbally over the phone three weeks ago. The guy said with a cheaky tone '' Do you want me to disconnect the service for you? It will only take 30 days?!!!'' We asked not to do so at the moment as we want to think about considering another company for the same service.
Can they do this? No letter, No notice, No nothing. They said the bill serves as a notice as it is telling us what the next month's charges will be!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any help or adivce will be gratefully received

That's disgraceful. I have no advice or indeed help of any kind but surely that's not acceptable. I'm sure someone will be of some help soon.
We're with VM and I'll be watching out for them in future now. The wire at the front of our house is terrible. It is extremely visible ON the busy public pavement next to our front garden and every time the guy next door strims the adjoinng hedge strip I worry that he will cut us off!0 -

I assume you are on cable? If so your options are very limited, use Virgin or revert to BT landline and then you can choose other suppliers.
The threat of Tal Talk is meaningless without a BT landline available, and I guess VM know this as well. You were right to stay connected in the meantime
Is your landline still working & connected via a BT exchange?Numerus non sum0 -

It is disgraceful. You wouldn't think they would/could do this after agreeing a contract

They used to be nice and competitive, I don't know what has changed to make them treat us this way!

I will, Peter. Fingers crossed, I will get through to a more helpful person.

You are right, I am on cable, but, I used to have a BT line in the house which I still have got the number for it and all would it take to get back to BT is a phone call to reconnect the line. I still have the socket for it at home.
I asked them not to disconnect at the day because I thought I should better check and see what is going on regarding the BB market as the VM guy's tone was so cheeky when asked me if I wanted to get disconnected now!!!
Thank you for your help so far and any furthur tips will be gratefully received.Be nice, life is too short to be anything else.0 -
Regarding BT reconnect, you may find it costs over £100, have a look on the telephones board for more grumps on this sore subject
It seems to me that once you go cable then you have burnt your bridges and it will cost to return, you may be lucky but do check firstNumerus non sum0 -

I don't believe they have any. It must have been April 1st when you called.
As for your BT line, if it's still there you should be able to get in re-connected for free (i did), as all they have to do is basically switch it back on and activate itInstigated terrorism the road to dictatorship.0 -
Call them up, ask to speak to a manager & ask for them to review the recording of the call. If there isnt one then there isnt much you can do, well, apart from taking up the Talk Talk service0

I am with Virgin Media on their Xl package and the sooner I reach the end of my contract the better. o2 have a cracking deal on at present 8meg £7.50 16meg £10 and 20meg for £15 http://broadband.o2.co.uk/0

I posted this in another thread so I've copied and pasted it here. It is disgraceful what they are doing.
I was offered 4Mb broadband back in May 2006 for £10 p/m for as long as I stayed with them (lifetime offer). It was fine until Virgin took over and I started to get billed higher. I phoned to tell them what I had been offered but the person I spoke to kept saying that they would never offer something like that. I insisted that I had been offered that and to check the recordings. The person that offered this deal did not write down the length of the offer so they are saying they are not going to honour it. I argued that they didn't write down length cos it was for an indefinite period. Frankly, I got no-where so I decided to write in.
When I sent a letter of complaint, Virginmedia acknowledged my letter but did not reply back with any sort of resolutions. 9 months down the line I am seriously fed up as I phoned a few days ago and argued again to no avail so have decided to give them 30 days notice.
Is anyone else having problems with life-time offers from last year? Is there anything I can do to make them honour the contract they agreed to?0
