Can this be right?

I switched from British Gas last year to Sainsbury's British Gas
When this happened I have now found that they credited my bank account twce with the amount I had overpaid.
I have now switched from Sainsbury's TOTO, and have received a small credit.
To my surprise now I have had a bill for over a hundred pounds in relation to the amount they
paid into my account twice in October 16.
Can they clam this after all this time when I am no longer with them?

Sorry - The bad news is that BG and all other suppliers have the right to to re-visit and adjust a customers billing for up to 6 years from the date of an error.
If this demand puts a strain on your finances, the best you can do is negotiate a repayment plan over time0 -

Welcome to the forum
The above comments are correct. Similarly if they had overcharged you £100 you would have up to 6 years to get that sum repaid.0
