Thank you for the lists, Natty and Valli. I hope the job thing works out, Valli.
N's arrival yesterday was bittersweet. This is his twentieth visit and we've built up a lovely relationship with him over the years. I was planning to tell him at the end of the week that it was on us, but making it very lowkey as a gesture and thank you. (He organised a fantastic treat a few years ago connected with his job and although it didn't cost him anything, it took time and thoughtfulness to arrange. Nice man.) It turns out this is his last visit - the two organisations that make his stay part of his job have been unable to negotiate a new contract, so that's the end of that. We're gutted, absolutely gutted.Mademoiselle wrote: »Big big success last week was actually getting round to starting big admin frog I have, documents ordered so that is now underway, it will involve lots more work but actually working out where to start and starting was the biggest challenge. Also managed to get rid of another task that had been hanging over me for far too long and it wasn't even as difficult as I thought it would be.
The secret of it, I think, is just to get stuck in. Even if we start in the wrong place, by doing so we discover where we should have started and then we can just get on with it. Good on you for frog-munching.
I've got to get cracking on a number of things today:
- Write two covering letters to go with LPA and Vet thing
- Post LPA
- Post parcel to Vet UK
- Order from Vet UK
- Minutes
- Visit new voluntary role place
- Make a couple of things
- Get Christmas cards down from attic
- Write some Christmas cards
- Go to the pub and talk to the landlord about an idea we had that I need to rein in and put on hold until next year when we'll have time to organise it properly
- Meal plan from yesterday's freezer sort
- Sort out another space, dining room cupboards might be a good place to start
- take small pile of gibble to nearest CS
- First draft of letter to vet
- Do a bit of cosmetic Flying.
I think that's enough to be going on with. Have a fabby day, Flyladies.Better is good enough.0 -
ATB.. docs here isn't possible.. they are utterly useless.. even if by some miracle you manage an appointment they don't listen or do anything useful and certainly don't help. I can't remember the last time I actually came away with a satisfactory outcome.
I need to return a phne to the shop in the town centre.. but.. I can't decide if I should just sell it and buy the one I actually want.. the price difference in the 2 on ebay is negligible.. but through Vodafone is £290 .... they put their prices up for 'Black Friday' and won't honour the price when I upgraded which is totally out of order when it was the fault of their idiot that they sent out the wrong phone in the first place.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I shall be doing what little my rubbishy body will allow this week.
Mr LW has been doing some high-up stuff (like tops of kitchen cupboards etc) which it is currently not safe for me to do.
First priority from now til 6th December will be Daisy Dog; she arrived this morning. She's 13 years old now, and visibly frail. She eats less than enough to keep a sparrow alive, so will be tempting her with the chicken thighs her Mum has provided and with her favourite food, chicken and cheese strips.
Hoping Mr LW will forget about tree/decs this year (I can't do anything til he fetches them down from the loft in any case). I simply have no energy to spare, and zero enthusiasm for anything remotely "festive".If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Made a cake
Put dinner in slow cooker
Final check and emailed a report
Topped up flower arrangements in lounge
Sorted a couple of piles, mainly magazines, notes and junk mail from lounge and similar in kitchen
Tidied and cleaned kitchen (using the term 'clean' fairly loosely)
Double-checked menu plan for the next few days, made list for Mr N who is taking his mum to Mr T as we speak.
Wandered round house cleaning handbasins, glass tables etc and straightening/moving anything that didn't seem right.
Other odds and ....ends
Just off to collect my mum from bus station now.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -
Hi all
Just popping in and out. Job no. 1 done, washing in td, dw on, a few things tidied away, food shopping received, shepherds pie made. Parents evening tonight, 3 appointments over 35 minutes and a 62 mile round trip to get there. Hey ho.
But first more paid stuff.0 -
Sigh. I posted last week that at least DS is well behaved for everyone else. Well I've been taken to one side at Pre school today - apparently his behaviour has been very poor recently and they have been unhappy with it.
They have a *way* of making you feel carp. Sigh again. The words ADHD were mentioned... he's 3.5 !!!!!! is that even possible. Had enough.MFW

I would like to sneak in again please.
I tend to do a week and life catches up to me. I'm going to focus on at least doing Level 1 to keep on top. I think I stress to do all the lists, and get burnt out.
I'm just getting over being ill last week, had my first day back at work today so feeling a little frazzled (BF has volunteered to cook tea for which I am grateful). I may do a few bits after tea if I'm feeling up to it.
Marvellous Monday - Christmas madness Looms - get your retreat ready - your bedroom
Level 1
Strip bed - leave to air while you have breakfast/school run etc...
then - vacuum/dust headboard and bedframe
remake bed
clear floordrobe/chairdrobe
Level 2
Dust bedside tables
Wipe sticky mats, sockets and switches
Dust any other furniture
Polish mirrors
Level 3
Clean windows and sills
Check corners for cobwebs
Dust skirtings
Vacuum floor
The plan (such as it is) is to ensure a comfortable, stress-free zone...
Extras
HHI
Write your Christmas Toots list - then you can tick bits off as you go
MAD half hour - if you can't think of one why not have half an hour wrapping presents/writing cards/sorting out online shopping - writing Xmas Toots list
For those for whom there are mixed feelings at Christmas - be kind to yourselves.
And if you're cooking squeeze something else in the oven at the same time and freeze the extra so that you can have a couple of meals to thaw when you're frazzled.

I'm so sorry your DS is playing up ATB. Is he worried about something? If his behaviour has always been okay and this behaviour has suddenly started maybe he's expressing his unhappiness or fear in the only way he can. Is the person who suggested ADHD qualified to make that diagnosis?
Welcome back Raphael.
I made a mistake. This isn't today's list, turns out it's this week's list. I didn't even start on the listy until after lunch, but I'd been busy all morning doing all manner of things that weren't even on it, so I'm going to add to it as I think of urgent things that need to be done.

I've dosed the dog for ticks and fleas, brought the accounts up to date, found out why I found an anomoly on my state pension forecast and had a monstrous wobble about it, made a phone call with some good news for a friend, been for an interview thingy at the voluntary role place and done an hours work for them which wasn't the intention but there you go, they're painfully short-staffed on admin.
OH went shopping and brought home the sweetest little growing Christmas tree I've ever seen, just what we wanted this year. Excellent.Better is good enough.0 -
HB - no, not at all. Decided I'm going to speak to his key worker in the morning and take it from there. Thanks for asking xx
