Is there any way to tune into English speaking radio, whilst driving on the continent?
I haven't been able to find any English speaking channels on FM.
Any chance on DAB?

DAB should work"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I've never had much luck with DAB. I can pick up stations, but they are in the local language. Mind you, I've never expected to pick up anything in English.0

Radio Player app on your mobile phone. You need a VPN set to appear as if you are in the UK on that particular app if you want to listen to the BBC.
I’m in Spain at the moment listening to Radio 2 on that app with an iPhone, the vpn is CyberGhost- pretending to be in Manchester. The non BBC stations work on that app without a vpn.0 -
Used to be able to get radio 5 or maybe world service but only at certain times.
Id download some podcasts to listen to if you have a usb port in the car or store them on your phone if you can.0 -

You Don't need a VPN for BBc radio! (Its not BBC TV which you do)
I also listen to BBC Radio 2 in spain and don't use a VPN

Doubt very much you will get your FM radio station on the continent, as FM is mostly line of sight.
Radio 1 would not cover the UK without many, many repeaters and a shift in frequency too https://listen.frequence-radio.com/frequency-in-radio-1.html
Short wave and medium waves travel further, but the are lower frequency and AM and prone to interference.... Remember Radio Caroline that broadcasted from a ship? Short-wave, under the right conditions can bounce of the ionosphere and travel around the globe, but often not a perfect signal either.0
