It isn't solely one document that determines whether you have cover or not.
OP - what does it say on your certificate about commencement date and time?

    That is the definitive document!

(Why did you fall in with the purchaser's request? What if he had caused a fatal accident and the car was covered by you??)
  • The cyclist was Injured but it was not my fault you can clearly see where his pedal hit my car when he came right in front of it from the side give way. I was on the main road when he pulled from a give way they should get cycle riders to pass their theory before they ride on the road and he didn't speak English aswel.

I am going to accept penalty notice offer as if I don't there is a chance they will give me more points or a bigger fine as I don't think they will let me off for 20 mins.

If he does claim I don't think I will have money for it as my insurance is going to cancel my policy when I get convicted of driving with insurance and won't be able to get insured again as I got quoted 3k and only have the 1600 from the previous car I sold.will just have to save money untill then.
  • “A friend bought a new car and drove it just before the policy started and got fined £850 the points and a 6 month driving ban.

    No, No previous points.

You don’t get points and a ban for a single offence. And unless there are serious mitigating circumstances you do not get disqualified (let alone for six months) for a first offence of No Insurance. Whilst the Magistrates can disqualify a driver for any single offence that carries an endorsement, six to eight points is their guideline sentence for No insurance. He’s told you some porkies somewhere along the line.

My insurance company said they would insure me for two cars for 24 hours when I was changing mine. Worth asking them about it.

Yes it would've been worth asking about. But after the event...??

It isn't the definitive document. All communications with your insurance company matter.

The OP hasn't clarified who told them to only put the new car on at 9am the next day. If it is the purchaser then it is a bizarre request to accept, as your insurance doesn't cover them. Nor will the vehicle be taken off MID that quickly.

It is as far as the police are concerned
  • I can't stop thinking about but was just wondering is there a chance they will let it go for the sake of 20 minutes or have I got no chance

Vision1, why are you still posting here?

Your issue has nothing to do with parking.

What has Pepipoo said about this?
