The information is included among the terms and conditions on most mobile networks websites, i just plucked these details at random from 02 .
Your right, its not technically an upgrade, but its how the networks describe the process, its well known you have already paid for your phone, via the line rental, i wasn't disagreeing with you.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. O2 split the phone & contract payments.
The cost of the phone shows as a loan on credit reports. This would explain the need for a credit check even for a previous custom upgrading0 -
Well it definitely isnt due to your credit score,
An option is to buy a phone outright and get a pay monthly sim you you use your current phone and just get the sim.0 -

Tesco do the same..the phone is shown as a loan on credit file.
However you also have the option of simply paying whats owed on phone and clearing the balance.0 -

Not with Virgin Mobile. I was only credit checked internally and the only entry on my credit file by them was check for money laundering regulations. No hard search was noted on any of my cra files.0
