  • It's interesting given that no such person as Jon Venables actually exists anymore.

Yup...lol.. if threads are closed because they refer to those who don't exist then that screws any discussion of God and religion.

You have no "right" to start a thread of your choice on here. MSE doesn't want it and I must admit to being a bit sick of the subject myself. Take the hint.

Edit - just seen your other thread/threads. Honestly, is something terrible going to happen if you don't discuss this? Get a grip.

There's a simple solution if you don't like reading some of the threads that the OP starts, on serious subjects.......... put him on ignore.
Would you rather we only discuss petty subjects here. On the subject of Venebles, it was in the news. I think all the newspapers ran it. I think all the radio & television channels ran it. They all ran the story because they knew it would be of interest to most of their readers.

I'm not going to start another thread in a similar vein but another "news story" thread has disappeared this morning. Probably some more of the easily offended snowflakes complaining over spades being called spades and if it quacks like a duck type comments.

Indeed - unless something happened in the last few minutes of it there was nothing discussed in there that wasn't available from mainstream media and certainly nothing that would've caused any legal issues for the site.

As can be seen clearly in this thread the term being a 'child' no longer means that one can't be a criminal

And now the replacement thread on that has also disappeared - nothing sub-judice being discussed - merely as highlighted by mainstream media that some bad lads have got their comeuppance

Is there a greater force operating here that chooses which news stories can be discussed ?

    ....

If the 'other thread' was about a high profile road traffic accident, I saw it in its early stages yesterday.

It discussed a lot which wasn't in the mainstream media, including assumptions about the deceased, their lifestyles, morals, past current or future criminal records, and similar assumptions about their families.

All of those things could cause legal issues for the site.
