ASOS next day delivery arrived late (CollectPlus)

Options
I had an order on ASOS which was supposed to be next day delivery, but it arrived two days after the expected delivery date (so took 3 days in total). I know people get funny about the 'C' word here (compensation) but I think if you pay extra for faster delivery and then it's late they should have to compensate you.

If I'd paid for a one off next day delivery it would be reasonable for them to refund the delivery charge, right? However because I've signed up for Premier (£9.95 for free next day delivery for a year) the only thing they are offering to do is cancel my Premier membership and refund the £9.95.

Offering to cancel the Premier membership doesn't really feel like "compensation" for the inconvenience caused, because they're just taking the service away from me for any future purchase.

Ideally I think they should refund (or part refund) the £9.95, but let me keep Premier for the rest of the year. Doesn't this seem reasonable? Has anyone else had this problem with ASOS?

Your proposal doesn't seem reasonable to me tbh. £9.95 for a years next day delivery will cost them money.

What? That's just what the service is they offer. I'm not asking for special treatment. If they actually make a loss on their Premier service that's neither here nor there.
  • The awkward situation you have is that you didn't pay a one off fee for this next day delivery - you effectively paid £9.95 for 365 next day deliveries.

No but they do guarantee to deliver by the date shown on your order confirmation. My delivery was received two days after this date.

So you didnt really want opinions on whether it was reasonable. If you check their small print it says they will aim to deliver by the stated date.

Care to elaborate on what the inconvenience caused is.

How much of your £9.95 do you want back? The fact that you have the service suggests a frequent user, say once a fortnight, so one late delivery would equate to roughly 40p.

If you ask them to refund you 40p I'm sure they'll oblige.

I do and I did and I've taken your opinion on board. Nothing I've said indicates otherwise.

I had my reasons for choosing next day delivery over standard delivery. Reasons which are not material to the case.

We can all pick numbers out of thin air to make a point. It's not clever.

Amazon will, from my experience, extend Prime membership by a month if a delivery date is missed. This would indicate that IAmWales assumption as to the amount of compensation you could expect isn't unreasonable - <£1.
