How much for a car service?

Why not ask the garage?
With the info you have posted no-one is going to be able to give you a useful answer.
A Ford Focus will not cost the same as a Ferrari etc etc0 -
Car playing up...think it is the spark plugs. So want to get it serviced. Called one place and they quoted 185. Is this reasonable? Car is an 04 reg.
Will that price include the replacement of spark plugs and other bits and bobs?
Why do you think it's the spark plugs?
That price will include whatever you agreed with the mechanic. If you asked for a basic service, then they'll change the oil and oil filter. They won't touch the spark plugs.
Other items in a more full or major service include air filter, pollen filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, brake fluid change, coolant change, power steering fluid, and so much more.
Unless you specifically ask for it to be done, assume it won't be done.0 -
Assuming that you're not driving a Ferrari, generally an A service will be around £80-120 for oil and filters, and a B service will be around £150-250 to also include more filters and spark plugs etc..0

Can't you just change the spark plugs and see how it runs? Even I can do that. [i'm not volunteering tho] :eek:0

Depends on what you want to do, often a basic service oil/filter change, air filter then you can add spark plugs pollen filter coolant, other lubricants and fluids then the labour on top which can be up to several hours.0 -

04 reg what? If its a Ford Fiesta you may end up finding its the ECU especially if it has a poor service history.0 -
On my old Focus changed the spark plugs, it did nothing unless you also change the spark plug leads. Also change the ignition coil maybe, if there are 4 it can cost more, I heard the Chinese ones only last a few months I think the cheap HAAS ones have no specifications at least if they are made in Euroland they need a certain ISO specification:
ISO/TS 16949When you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you. Nietzsche
Please note that at no point during this work was the kettle ever put out of commission and no chavs were harmed during the making of this post.0 -
It is a 04 HONDA CIVIC - I have taken it elsewhere for a quote now and they have given it the once over. Just waiting for a quote which they guy is about to give me.
As suggested, I could have changed Spark Plugs myself, but after 40k miles or so, probably due a service that incliudes other bits n bobs I would not know how to do. Oil change sounds messy!0 -
How long ago did the oil get changed .... not 40k surely ??0
