So I had my response from Lloyd's regarding my claim. They have paid out on the unfair relationship which I guess is from the Plevin ruling but not on my original PPI claim.
They are basically saying at the time of purchase I had a need for ppi. At the time I was working, living at my parents and had a partner in full time work who's parents we can rely on for money.
I never take out ppi on anything so have told Lloyd's that I was unaware that ppi was going to be on my credit card as I didn't ask for it .
So basically they have admitted there's ppi but in their eyes I was in need of it when like I said it's something I just don't need or want.

    That being the case, why did you not cancel the PPI when you saw it being charged each and every month on your credit card statement?

    You lack of action at that time contradicts your complaint now, I'm afraid.

    At least you get your Plevin refund as consolation.

    Financial ineptitude due to your youth at the time is not a valid mis-selling reason, I'm afraid. Templates often use the "young and naive" nugget, but it rarely works unless there is something else identified with the sale.

    Unfortunately, they will have evidence (your signature) which refutes your allegation that it was applied without your knowledge and permission.

  • Can you add new information to the claim once they have made a decision. At the time of getting the credit card I now remember my partner having substantial savings. Been reading in to it and looks like if there's substantial savings this could highlight a reason why I would choose not to have PPI

    The fact that you have family who could support you doesn't prove you don't need or want financial protection. Adults sometimes like to look after themselves rather than depending on relatives.

    We talk about giving 16 year olds the vote, yet people try to nullify agreements made as young adults based on them being 'young and naive' at the time. Perhaps election results could be contested in the future because young voters didn't really mean it.

    Only if it was to add new and compelling evidence not in your original complaint. You won't receive a refund by saying you had substantial savings because the whole point of the insurance was so that you didn't have to raid your savings having suffered a claimable event. Can you prove that you had these savings at the time the insurance was sold to you? Even if you can prove it, why run up a credit card bill in the first place if you had such savings?

    You really are clutching at straws now, I'm afraid.

    Your complaint has failed. If you still feel aggrieved, you have the option of refusing the Plevin refund and referring your case to the Ombudsman. You have six months in which to do this...

    I think this being young comment has been Taken out of context. I said it refering to not checking my statements on a regular basis. Too be honest I don't remember ever seeing ppi on my statements even though I've been told there was.
    My issue is the fact that ppi was being paid and it's something I've never taken out and never wanted to have on any product I've ever brought. To me it's a waste of money. I didn't know I had it and didn't want it..is that miss selling? The costs of ppi wearnt explained clearly and if they were I definitely wouldn't of signed up

    IF you paid any ppi, it'd be itemised on a separate line on the monthly statement(s). It's only charged on an outstanding balance.

    However it was charged I never wanted it and don't remember signing up for it and it wasn't made clear at any point I would have it and what the financial impact of having it would be.but they have told me over a phone conversation it was on there and I received my letter with their reasons for not upholding my complaint.they are simply saying I was in need of having it even tho it was optional
