Anyone remember why they started the winter fuel allowance? Very low increase in state pension & very high increase in fuel costs. No government gives anything like this unless it is to prevent the preverbial from hitting the fan.

Similar to the reason for over 65s getting a higher personal allowance for a few years. Gov pulling itself out of the shonet.

The reason we have triple lock is another one, because they were embarrassed at how low our state pensions were compared to other EU nations. No wonder they want us out!
