Can someone please explain this?
This morning at the start of a long journey I filled up my car with petrol at tesco Copdock,Ipswich at a price of 116.9 ppl
This evening at 5pm I filled the car up again at tesco Copdock,Ipswich (same station, same pump) at a price of 117.9ppl.
I thought the Chancellor had cancelled the duty price increase?

There is a long and detailed explanation, far too complicated to go into here as Fermat would say. The simple explanation is that the garage put the price up.0

I went into Sainsburys once, I came out 40 minutes later and the price of unleaded (not diesel though) had gone up by a penny. I did see the big tankers filling up the station when I went in though.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I once saw a station actually change prices as I passed. They were being reduced.0

I know they do vary at different times up & down but I wondered if either they had expected duty to rise or mis-heard the news.0

Tesco is IME & IMHO always the one, in any area, to try to push the price up.
If the competition like the idea they will follow suit, if they don't Tesco will be "forced" to put it back down again.0 -
I think your car is drinking fuel.0

You don't think that a business like Tesco might have a slightly more robust method of determining the impact of the Budget than some bloke sat listening to Radio 4 on his wireless?0
