There was no suggestion to me that the same range of funds will be available. It was just that the kames fund is not available and will not be so you'll have to sell, transfer the cash and pick something else that they do offer on the TD website.

You have discovered what many of us have found - cheap price = no service.

I don't think Interactive Investor is priced at a level too cheap for them to offer a decent service. Sure a fixed price platform can be very good value for a large balance but they are still being paid a fair amount for the administration that they need to support.

Once they complete the transformation they will be no 2 in the DIY market after HL so they will also have economies of scale on their side too.

I suspect with the volume of change they are attempting to complete in such a short time they have set themselves up with an avalanche of work for which any platform would struggle to cope.

I doubt whoever planned this is very popular in the office!

They are on my list of providers to open an account and place investments but I am waiting at least 6 months for the dust to settle and to accumulate enough money to justify opening up another fixed fee account to complement my Halifax account. I used to have a TD Waterhouse account so wonder how similar it will still look and feel!

I have transferred my holdings (both ISA and unwrapped) to HL as the cost is less. I only ever had ITs in this platform and HL are cheaper in this case.

Transfer took less than a fortnight from end to end.

My wife's holdings are staying with TD (II) while we consider where is the best home for this.

It seems what has happened here is that Interactive Investor used to offer almost 4,000 funds but now they have decided to go with the TD Direct platform that has been reduced to around 2,000. Hence quite a number of funds they used to offer, like the Kames one I wanted, are no longer available to new customers. Is that a step forward?

I've had great service from iWeb and appalling service from HL so I would disagree with that.

We, all of us can only go by our own experience. That makes neither you nor I correct in all cases. Ever read restaurant reviews?

Poor reputation and hefty ISA charges of £90 a year

You said that what many have discovered is that "cheap price = no service".

However given my experience, what you may actually have discovered is that price is not correlated to service.
