  • Afternoon a

I'm running late today, I've dropped hubby at work, shopped for next week, bought 2 Christmas gifts and now I'm home and rocking the boat, well the wind is, I may have to tighten the ropes as we're banging into the jetty a lot.
Thanks for all the good wishes yesterday, we will celebrate my birthday on Saturday when hubby's not at work.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Afternoon folks. SPEKY, as a mum, I agree with all the other mums on here. We are just grateful for sensible children who know their mums wouldn't be best pleased if their kids got into debt buying them an extravagant gift! A nice card with some well chosen words of gratitude added and a small token gift would be more than enough to make me happy!

Oh your poor DS JUDI, I hope this soon gets sorted out and the bank ensures the money goes back into his account. What a worry.

OK folks I want a big round of applause now! I went back to pruning the kitchen cupboards this morning and put my ruthless head on! I now have a pile of better quality stuff to pass to the cs and a big box of mugs, plates, bowls, pyrex stuff, etc to take to the tip! Some of it was wedding presents 45 years ago!!! Dated isn't the word to describe some of it! I have still the odds and sods drawer to sift through and all the junk under the sink but that's for another day! I've done enough for one day!

We got the promised wind, though not as bad as feared, and the rain wasn't as heavy as expected either. Or am I speaking too soon!!

Take care folks and enjoy the rest of the day if you can xx

Afternoon all from a wet and windy Wales .
It's such a horrible day, the rain is lashing down and the wind is howling, add in the fact that it's as dark as the hobs of hell, I'm glad I'm safe and dry at home now.
Had to go out this morning to collect Mr Fix Its prescription, then get it filled at the chemist in town. Decided to go over the mountain road to Ffoods to top up the toilet rolls and then called in As*a for coffee and a snack. I'm sure there was some sleet falling at one point. Never mind most of our Xmas shopping / pressies are done, so if we get snowed in we are prepared :rotfl:.
This afternoon I have emptied the DW and done two loads in the WM, unfortunately it will have to dry on the radiators.
Spoke to DD last night about the Xmas arrangements and she told me that DGS had been named as "Player of the Match" on the weekend. So that's another trophy for the shelf :D. I suspect DGD will lean towards the academic side as she is always writing, drawing or has her head in a book.
I loved David Cassidy and the Partridge Family, I still have his LP too :(.
Tea tonight will be a steak bake from the bakers with salad, so no cooking again.
Specky I second AOD's suggestion. As you like baking some HM sweets maybe the answer. Personally, the thought and the love that goes into a HM present makes it more special than anything which is bought. There are some good, easy recipes on the Carnation website HTH.
LW I hope I didn't put the kybosh on your hearing aid, sorry.
Nelski hope the dentist went ok
Judi  about your son's bank account. I hope it can be sorted asap.
Off to get another coffee, so sending hugs to all.
    P.S. TA :T:T:T.

Don't worry; it packed up a couple of weeks ago, long before the conversation on here. But I can do nothing about it til Mr LW rings and books me an appointment; it's also complicated by the fact that the aid is over seven years old, so they won't fix it any more, I'll have to have a new one. Which means I have to see the specific audiologist I usually see, as I can't cope with anyone else fitting me for the new one. As it is, there's a note on my file to say I'm not to be booked in with a male audiologist, but for actually doing the fitting for a new aid, it has to be J and no-one else.

  • Hi chums home at last and exhausted by a day first at Bluewater, where I found to my annoyance that the Apple shop is now shut for refurbishment, so I had to cross the river and go to Lakeside in Essex which I really am not keen on.

But finally got my laptop fixed after a lot of too-ing and fro-ing with Apple employees not being very helpful, until I give them a rocket about their poor service then I had a very nice manager aplogise for their incompetence and managed to get my laptop sorted within 10 minutes, after me wasting over half a day there.

Returning to Kent I got stuck on the QE2 bridge witth a broken down vehicle on the bridge which caused chaos .I am glad to be home at last with my feet up at least .Didn't bother with cooking tonight as I just am too clapped out to bother so I have had some fruit instead.I am going of for an early night now and a read of my book as to put it mildly my 'dogs are barking' and they need to be elevated with a hot cup of tea See you all tomorrow

    Cheers chums

    JackieO xx
