O/S Daily Wednesday 22nd November 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work, and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was pork chops, mash, veg and gravy, ice cream for dessert for those that wanted some. Tonight I'm not sure, but I'll find something I'm sure, store cupboard and freezers are fairly well stocked.
Yesterday I did get a few jobs done from the "to do" list, but still have more to do, but need to be at home all day, as waiting for a delivery. So I'll potter along.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Hope everyone's ok this morning. I could have had an extra hour in bed this morning as no swimming but woke up coughing.
I knitted a pair of slippers over the weekend so have sewed them up and put the button on this morning. Made a shopping bag and a cosmetic bag last night - took me 3 tries at the zip, my brain really can't work it out! I'm sharing a stall at a christmas fair next week so need to get a few more things made. Not sure what I will do with them if they don't sell - bag or slippers anyone?
The weather has been wet to monsoon lately with more in store for today, seems like the sun has left us.
Have a happy Wednesday. Take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. This bizarre weather continues - 13 deg out there already! It's a pity we are destined to get rain and wind to go with the balmy temps.
I don't make to do lists as I never stick to them and then get disheartened! However, I have it in my head that today I will resume the prune of the kitchen cupboards. I made a start on Monday and managed to offload my big and heavy dual pot slow cooker on to DD. It is far too big for the two of us so I have replaced it with a more compact one. She also left with 6 tins of puy lentils still in the cupboard from when I thought, for some reason, it was a good idea to order 12 tins from Amazon!
Meals for today will be mushroom and bacon omelettes for lunch (have an abundance of eggs) and dinner chicken & bacon creamy pasta for Mr TA and just the chicken for me with salad and butternut squash oven chips. (This low fat eating involves one day on and one day off these days and never achieves anything!)
Have a good day all and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, worried or sad who want/need them/ Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone
There is a yellow weather warning in this area for high winds from 9.00am onwards but it is already very windy. I hope it doesn’t get too bad.
I did manage to get out with my friend for a coffee yesterday morning, at the new bakery/coffee house and enjoyed the trip out. It’s a nice place, but there is already a well-established caf! within 20 paces and it is opposite a Sainsbury’s. I hope they do well though, it’s good to see a new business come to the area, and we don’t have an independent bakery in town.
I think I need to have a sort through my entrance hall cupboards again. When I went to put something away yesterday I noticed that it is getting full up again. It seems to be the one place I put everything that is sitting around so it needs sorting on a regular basis.
Time to go and get some more tea.
Hugs to those having a difficult time.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning all
Not sure what the weather is doing but its meant to be heavy rain and winds for today, the car park at work is already a mud bath this will make it so much worse !
Something with mince for dinner tonight might do a spag bol which I am loving atm, I am putting olive halves into it which makes it so tasty.
Ive missed the jungle for a few days so must catch up, I do love it though especially the tasks.
Must sort out the present stash tonight and wrap some up ready for next weeks Birthdays.
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Morning all,
Redruby Amir redeemed himself last night...I'll leave it at that...:D
Slept well last night. I thought id be cold on my own but I wasnt. First night ive slept on my own in 12 months....well apart from when me and Grump have had words.:D
Youngest at work. Hounds snoring at my feet.
Theres an alarm going off in the office. Ive been messing again. Think its my old mobile. I turned it on to see if it still worked.
Not a lot to do today. Certainly dont need to write a list. Amazing how much less house work I need to do with one less body in it.
At this rate I might have to take up ebaying again...
Onwards and forwards (when the alarm is dead and buried)

Morning chums.
Still raining, still grey, still miserable outside.
Off to teach shortly, this group are particularly challenging and, as it turns out, have been worse with other staff so it's going to kick off today as the course leader is going to 'have words'.
After that I'm probably going down to DM's, she's been in bed since Sunday with a heavy cold and then yesterday her AFib started to get worse. I phoned her doc who suggested upping her dosage of beta-blocker for a wee while, she's on a very low dosage so all should be OK.
I have to take my work with me as I can't let it all pile up again, it just stresses me out. Seems this semi-retirement lark isn't so relaxing as anticipated!
Anyway, need to head off, Happy Wednesday to all.0 -
Morning
Wet and windy here pretty horrible day all in all
Dentist appointment today which I am really not relishing. I had a filling fall out but most of the tooth came with it so all thats left is a stub. Pretty sure she will want it whipping out
Also need to pick up some stuff from M+S ordered when the 20% sale was on. Ordered a pair of gloves that I can use with my phoneI have problems with the nerve endings in my hands which means they are always cold so I wear gloves a lot up to now I have just used the fingerless ones so that I can type but hoping these will help. Got a new purse as well one of the card safe ones ....the contactless cards are a concern for me and this apparently blocks them
Fish for dinner tonight not sure with what though
Sad that Jack had to leave the jungle I thought he made a cute couple with Toff but thats what happens when you are stupid on the internet I guess.
Right best get dressed for the dreaded dentist. Have a good day all0 -
Morning everyone,
Dry but very windy and mild here in East Anglia, the clouds are racing across the skies, very dramatic!
Lulu has the farrier this morning so will head over soon to sort her out, then finally the new WM is due to be delivered at lunchtime, have already sorted all the piles and know the running order
Oh, just heard on the news that David Cassidy has diedhad a poster of him on my bedroom wall as a child and preferred him to Donny Osmond, that's a shame.
Have a good day folks x0 -
Morning all,
It's been a while.
I was in Leeds for the weekend which was great. Bit too much to drink which left a physical hangover and a financial one too. Nothing I can't live with, and you only live once - although it felt like I was dying on Monday.
Back to almost full fitness now. Went to the gym this morning and I've got football tonight. Trying a new recipe tonight too. Coldon Bleu or something...?
Past couple of years I've been organised for Xmas, this year especially so, but as the date gets closer, I always feel I've not given enough. Probably becuase I've given myself a budget and stuck to it. I'm feeling that way again, especially my Mum who has been just amazing to me over the last 12 month. In fact the last 27 years! Just me...?

Now listen up specky. I would put a lot of money on a bet that said your mum does not do what she does to get bigger christmas presents in fact I would take a punt on your mum caring a lot more about the fact her lovely son is sensible enough to budget and not get into debt.
Why not look at some free stuff you could do with your mum like cooking a meal just spending a day with her ....give her IOUs and bingo thoughtful presents that cost next to nothing0
