The Fares Database is exactly the same from vendor to vendor.
Therefore there is no advantage to booking with an independent compared to booking with a Train Operating Company. In some cases, you'll pay more because some independents charge a booking fee.0 -

you didnt really answer my question, is the site legitimate? because from my basic check it more than halves what l would have expected to pay from somewhere like thetrainline.com
l just dont want to hand my money over to a site thats a scam, hence asking before l use it.0 -
The tickets should be exactly the same wherever you buy them.
What trainsplit does is to try split ticket combinations that meet your journey requirements but are cheaper than a through ticket.
If you are concerned about the site, you should be able to take the split ticket details and buy elsewhere (if it somehow prevents you from doing that, I'd be wary).
If you've not done split tickets before, it's worth understanding the limitations before you commit yourself.0 -
l am aware of the limitations after having asked before, its just the site seems pretty useful and may allow me to plan my journey much better, the idea being that l have more information and know when and where to be at what time especially considering l plan to travel just before and just after christmas, plus l was planning on getting flexible tickets which from what l saw would allow me some flexibility on when l travelled as long as it was on the day they were booked.0

It looks like a good site - the first one, I think, that will do the split analysis and sell your tickets in the same place.
It says that they take a percentage of the amount they save you, which is probably fair enough, but it is also possible to book the tickets elsewhere and save the fee (since you can see what trains it has selected by hovering over the details).
I had a play with the site to see how it works. This is my example:
Oxford - Rotherham on 1/2/18, returning 5/2/18 with a 16-25 Railcard.
Trainsplit: £30.10 (return)
TicketySplit (in association with MSE & TheTrainLine): £12.20 + £16.50 = £28.70
Journey times are the same, although the split points are not.0 -
I have been using trainsplit for around two years now and am impressed with their service (and have saved hundreds of pounds in making a monthly 600 mile return journey)0

took the plunge on friday, picked up the tickets yesterday. saved £50, means extra spending money.0

There was mention of trainline above. I'll add the usual reminder to use other sites that don't charge additional fees.0
