I'm not sure if you have broadband at home, if so the BBC has some pages of suggestions on their Teach pages called 5 ways to keep your kids busy and learning (sorry it won't let me post a link) and there are quite a few extra films and things on iPlayer. If you want some more ideas, let me know and I'll post some ideas our school have put through. Take care of yourselves x7

Thank you all
We spent the day in the garden. Stayed away from the fence. I actually put a blanket down right outside the door and the smalls sat on it reading/crafting and playing cards.
I emailed school about the home learning. They've sent me a link to the things they've set for the 3 of them and it all needs printing! And I don't have a printer and can't go to the library. So I emailed back and they response was they can't provide it in paper format so use the sheets on my phone but let them write the answers on paper. Not very helpful. Surely they must realise not everyone has access to online/printers? Especially those like us who can't go out to do it?
Fionaandphil I don't have broadband but they can use my phone while it has credit on. So I will have a look thank you.
I think youngest is okay. We've done a lot of her learning at home and she's only small. But the other two I find hard. Especially DS who will be going up to high school in September. He will be able to iron/make his bed and cook though!

I read a long post by a head teacher of a primary school last night (on my (ex-teacher) DH's FB feed, he had shared it) - the man said you can't do everything. This is not homeschooling, it is a suspension of school. The work set is all stuff they have already covered so a form of revision. Teachers were also in a panic when setting the work so many threw the kitchen sink at it and shared all the work prep they had done all year. He stressed this is not important. The key things to do a bit of are:
- Some reading
- Some creative stuff,
- Maybe get them to write a diary
- If you have time do a bit of cooking with them and get them to weigh everything andd work it all out
- And give them plenty of downtime.
I hope you find this reassuring WB - you are doing everything you canSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Suffolk_lass this is mirrored in what our school sent online last night. It included things like wash your bike or scooter, do jobs round the house for an adult without being asked, follow a recipe, keep a nature diary etc. I really liked it, son not so impressed! They have also suggested they do some gardening, plant any seeds and grow something. We've kept the seeds from a pepper and tried planting them and used up any seeds we had left from last year, all worth a try! I'm hoping we might have some salad for summer7

Thank you Beanie. I couldn't do that it's a lot of stuff DS is going to do what they said but the girls are just going to carry on as we are.
Thank you suffolklass that is reassuring. We do that everyday so at least I'm not slacking behind to much. All 3 are keeping an isolation diary and have from day 1. I thought it would be a good thing to look back at when they're older.
Hope you're all staying safe. X“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”7 -
DD is making herself a skirt. Not sure how that will work out but she's giving it a good go.
We've been baking and cleaning etc. But these are things they do normally. Trying to make activities with the things we have in.“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”6 -
Morning WB
I'd just do a few bits with them. Teachers are going to be playing catch up something terrible when all this is over. I can't imagine any of them having time to wade through reams and reams of worksheets marking what pupils have been doing over several weeks/months. I imagine it's to keep their brains ticking over more than anything. Have a good day. xx
