I'm glad your snow has gone Wannabe.
Frustrating about the tumble dryer, but think how much worse it would have been if it had gone wrong at Christmas, or when you were more desperate for money. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I agree, things are still tight but at least it isn't a constant worry (Well doesn't need to be even if I do)
Speaking of which I have a confession. I still haven't sorted my benefitsand I think I am past the date of taking in the extra info, I think (hope) this means I need to start all over again
I must get this sorted.
The tumble dryer is identical to the one I have/had. It faces some abuse in this house and I definitely couldn't manage without one.
The holiday is covered though. We will use our normal grocery budget and take the slow cooker again. There's £100 in the holiday pot and I don't intend on spending that! Will need to make a plan and budget when I can.
Roast went down well. Everyone in bed and now I'm going to join them I think.

YEs, you do need to sort out your benefits ASAP.
Is there a local CAB you could pop into for help & to get them do a benefits check to double check that you are getting everything that you are entitled to.

Benefits sounds like one of those psychological hurdles. Would it help to break the task into stages and do one a day or something? Sympathy from me because there are 'necessary' things I end up not sorting too. I don't know why they are so hard to do but they are. At least you have the very valid reason of being unwell yourself and having your kids to care for, so perhaps just start by making a list of the stages, then you can cross off each as you do them, and the list will niggle at you till you do.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. I didnt want to keep posting and asking if you had sorted them as I would then just sound like a nag!!
Just think if you had your benefits the emergency fund would grow a lot faster.
If you are talking about HB and CTB then could you break it down in to steps?
1. Call local council and check if too late to supply info
2. If not too late take info in
3. If too late make new claim for benefit
4. Take in all or some info
5. If some info in take in the rest.
6. Breathe
7. Write letter to council explaining situation and ask them to either backdate new claim (although they can only do this for 1mth) or ask them to reconsider their decision to make your old claim ineligible because you didnt supply info.
8. Get awarded benefits and clear rent arrears/build emergency fund quicker!!0 -
Agree with EE and others. Break it down into stages and tackle it that way...
You can and you will get it done missus

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

Please sort out the benefits WF. It will make things a whole lot easier.
Try the online calculator so that you have an idea of which ones you should get and then sort each one in turn.
Council tax, housing and carers first, i'm not sure what else you would get. Carers was easy to do when i did it a few years ago. Please sort them even if you just tackle one each day xLBM in April 17 - Starting card debt £33554
Mortgage@1 June 18 - £76350
Total debt @june 18 £102311
Debt Jan 25 £8282

Thank you
Will get it sorted. I don't know why I keep putting it off.
Well I'm so tired today. Youngest has yet another 'virus' waiting for 2pm so can try and get an emergency appointment today for yet more steroids. Zero sleep again!
The house is lovely and clean though and I've got the washing and things done. I was hoping she would nap so I could toobut no luck. No doubt she will nap when it's school run time and I can't :rotfl:
I know why I lost a day on meal planning.. We have a long appointment tomorrow. Well I do. So will have to be something quick I think. Maybe let them choose out the freezer. They think this is a treat :rotfl:
9 more school days until school holidays. Cannot come quick enough!
Hope everyone is well
