Re: the phone - is that you calling him from your landline to his mobile then? Do you not have a mobile? If so, you might be able to re-arrange your package so you get loads more free minutes to call him on? Or failing that, cut out the phone calls!! You'll have to catch up on each others days when he gets home instead lol!

Before today, I used to ring him loads as he works during the day, I work in the evenings, we had no time to chat about our day, so I rang him with every piece of news, lol, I have listed his number on my family and friends list (BT) so will get 20% off all calls. I've now finished work on maternity so wont need to ring him all the time (I hope :o )

I have a mobile but it's a payg and I don't credit it at the mo

You should be able to reduce the service to silver then which is only £14.99. I would definitely move away from the CSA and use their online calculator to work out payment. Get you OH to check with his ex that she receives exactly what he pays. The CSA have a habit of 'losing' money.

It's not always the best option but if you really find you are struggling to meet repayments could you possibly put some of the higher debts in under your mortgage? I would only ever recommend this is you are disciplined enough to increase your mortgage repayments to cover the additional loan and you won't ever use the CCs again.

We moved last year, used profit to pay off our debts and guess what, we built it back up again, I'd much rather just pay it off as it stands as I can't trust myself to get more credit iykwim xx

With regards to csa, we used the calculator for when our 2nd child is born and it says we would pay £150, but we don't know whether hubby's ex will see all of that money, thats why he's gonna have a chat with her, we hate to think that the government are taking money thats meant for his kids (even if they do live in the lap of luxury, lol)

I will look at reducing internet, cheers xx

  • Just a thought - but if and when you need to start up the phone calls again it really might be worth your while looking for a contract mobile (I know this wouldn't normally be recommended, but if you're going to make the calls you might as well get them as cheap as possible right?). For example, 3 mobile do a deal of 300 mins a month for £15 - a LOT less than the £50 you're paying to BT :)*

*personally I wouldn't actually recommend '3', their contracts do tend to be 18 month ones, but I just wanted to give you an example. As a "brand new" mobile customer you'd be a fantastic position to get yourself a really good deal :)

  • I am WELL impressed with your shopping budget - I could learn a lot from you :rotfl:

It looks like you've already started taking lots of steps in the right direction with cancelling sky, getting your house ins. through quidco etc.... Well done you :) And once you sell your car you'll be almost another £50 a month better off, with no garage and no car insurance. You're doing really well already, you should be proud of yourself :D

I have used this site for a long time and picked up loads of useful tips (I had to register again as I forgot my username :o ) and I started meal planning, bulk buying meat at farmers market, baking own cakes and biscuits, saving coupons.

I am a little proud of myself for dealing with our situation :T but a little angry that I let it get this bad

    xx

I'm so happy, we could have a possible sale for our car on Monday, some guy rang wanting to view the car, saying he wanted to come round t'moro but he can't get his money out the bank til Monday, so fingers firmly crossed, we could have an extra £2500, I hope so.

That's definitely the best idea of course :D I just though if you were to continue with the calls, best to try and get them as cheap as you possibly can ;)

  • God, yes, I've just noticed that, VERY impressive :)

I'm planning on changing my gas, electric, house insurance and possibly life insurance too but can't do it yet (long story, got to open new bank account due to DMP, postal strike = forms from Nat West taking aaaaages to come through :().

Looking forward to making some lovely free money!! :)
