I doubt HSBC will charge to use the machines, they don't with cash, nor with cheques, nor with cash withdrawals.... and everyone else has said they don't charge.
I don't think gk is saying they take a charge of 7%, but that the one he used wasn't calibrated properly, so, for example, when he had a bag of pennies on there (£1), it said there was only 93p.0 -
i used the coin sorter in hsbc, churchill way, cardiff today for the 1st time. took 2 trips in the end dumping £180 of coins. i managed to fill up one of their coin tubs too...oops.
i too got receipts and am still waiting for the deposits to appear on my statements(1hr later) so will wait a bit more.
one tip - don't put too many coins at a time. i soon learnt that. if the coin tubs in the guts of the machine gets filled it rejects all of the other coins so you have to start again once it gets emptied(10mins?).0 -

Why have you posted the same reply on no less than three different threads? Are you desperate for someone to read it or something? People don't like reading the same thing on different threads, so in future please just post it on the most recent thread and leave old ones to quietly wither away.0 -

I love it...use the one in Swansea regularly to pump in my loose change jar...although I have no idea if its light or not...
tbh, if its 7% light I'm not that bothered, in 2002 there was £945m of loose change floating about peoples homes in the UK doing nothing... I'm just glad to get it into my account where it can do something for me0
