Proof of a fault with a second hand car

I would start with simple checks, check the exact tyre size for each wheel, all the figures not just the wheel radius. Check the tyres properly, measure their wear with an electronic device, tyre pressure, different types of tyre, research the tyres used I.e one may be very different from the others like a winter tyre.
Also it may be a wheel bearing on its way out, and that is why it was sold.
Also some figures would be good, you can try a n android vibration meter, or even some dashcam evidence at over 65.
You can still send an email, and phone them even if you decide to write a letter. But have the letter sent to complaints....
An engineers report is expensive just take it to your local garage and give it a cheap MOT....so you build your case. When you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you. Nietzsche
Please note that at no point during this work was the kettle ever put out of commission and no chavs were harmed during the making of this post.0 -
My last car had an annoying vibration that made a buzzing noise between 65 and 70. Turned out to be saw tooth wear on a rear tyre which had been cause by a sticking calliper. I had spotted the calliper issue and fixed it but missed the resulting damage to the tyre which was spotted on the mot.
Saw tooth wear is when one side of each tread block wears away so the tyre becomes a polygon instead of a circle.
Check the tyres and try swapping them front to back to see if the noise moves with one of the tyres.0 -
Just a quick update on this case - Resolver saved the day, after it sent a message to the EH CEO they mysteriously became more helpful and paid for the issue to be resolved by my local garage (thankfully the local garage I usually use are extremely good, very helpful, and were quite indignant that EH were so unhelpful), once they'd sorted it all was well. Thanks all for the help and replies!0
