Who's reasonable for a mains water pipe?

A few days back I noticed our bath water running down the driveway escaping the Toliet (i think) drain cover, Called out a drains company to take a look who said water was passing slowly due to a broken pipe/detached halfway under our driveway.
As its a pipe we have no access to i.e Break or fix is it our responsibility or the water companies? Can presume its going to cost a wedge to dig up the driveway then put it back to how it was

If it is on your land, then I believe it is you0

If it is a drain on your land serving your house, and not a shared drain or sewer, it is your responsibility.
The diagram in this link illustrates the responsibilities:
https://www.stwater.co.uk/help-and-contact/faqs/who-is-responsible-for-the-sewer-drain-on-my-property/Who is responsible for the sewer/drain on my property?
Responsibilities for sewers and drains changed in October 2011.
The pipe work and connecting drains from the property to the sewer or lateral drain within the boundary are the responsibility of the property owner - unless other properties drain through it.
All sewers outside of your property boundaries and any sewers shared with another property are our responsibility.
This diagram shows how drains can be set up.

You may have it covered under your house insurance - worth checking.
We had a split mains water pipe under our drive and the insurance sorted it out - just cost us our excessNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
